I'm not at the match today due to illness but I'll post the latest NPL scores:

An Ilkeston win and a Guiseley defeat today would see us move up two places to 2nd in the league table but Worksop could jump back above us if they win at Basford on Saturday 28th December. Whatever the results we will be in a playoff place at the start of the New Year.

Several teams are well placed to challenge for the 4 playoff spots. The main contenders at present appear to be:

The match to follow for Ilkeston fans is Gainsborough v Guiseley. Could go either way.
Then there's Mickleover v Ashton. Surely Mickleover are in a false position and are capable of pulling off a surprise.
Stockton v Hebburn will be a close one and improving Rylands could beat Hyde (3 draws and a defeat in their last four)

Ilkeston’s unbeaten run came to an abrupt end in the Boxing Day derby at Matlock.  
The hosts started well and the first big chance came on 10 minutes when Reece Kendall’s cross found Montel Gibson whose header was palmed behind by Matt Yates. Gibson soon had another chance which Yates saved at the second attempt and this was followed by a Adam Clayton free kick which hit the post. A minute later Matlock were ahead when Gibson rounded Yates and slotted home. On 36 minutes Remaye Campbell doubled Matlock’s lead with a header from Jake Thompson’s cross. Ilkeston were close to pulling a goal back five minutes before half time when George Wilkinson’s header looked goal bound but Jake Oram clawed the ball to safety. 
Immediately after the restart L’Varn Brandy had a great chance for Ilkeston but slammed his effort against the crossbar. The miss proved costly as two minutes later Matlock scored again when a corner found the head of Charlie Oglesby. On 57 minutes it was game over when Gibson bundled the ball over the line for Matlock’s fourth. There was an Ilkeston chance when Colin Daniel found Brandy but Oram bravely grabbed the ball at his feet. Late in the game Ben Hutchinson nearly reduced the arrears when his header hit the bar before Campbell’s effort hit the post at the other end.
