My personal thoughts:
After nearly nine years of trying it seems that despite the best efforts of the small Whiteball team, we have failed to achieve the same popularity as other forums. Apart from our seven regulars no one else has made the effort to sign up and contribute. We have always tried to produce interesting football related posts for Ilkeston supporters but whilst other ITFC forums have thrived, the number of visitors to Whiteball has deminished. I occasionally hear people saying they’ve never heard of Whiteball which is very deflating. Maybe it’s because we’re a website rather than on Facebook. I feel that we are now teetering on the brink and must decide whether to continue on this website, move to Facebook or call it a day.

Continue, this site is informative/ knowledgeable about ITFC past and present and the non league game in general. It’s not just banter like others.
Message Unofficial ITSC supporters group and remind them about Whiteball.

I understand what Matchman is saying and when I emigrated to Northumberland I did not think the WhiteBallProject would survive. As we all get older it does get more difficult to sit in the cold and update the forum on match days. If the the new media guys continue with the excellent coverage they have produced so far it does seem more difficult to justify producing the same content. As owner and administrator of the site I think I would only close it down if like in the past I was being threatened with legal actions by past managers of Ilkeston or if people were being slanderous. I personally would like to keep it going but to make it more relevant maybe we need to tweak how we do it. Those of you living in Ilkeston probably have more idea about what would attract more people. We do have a WhiteBallProject Facebook page but so far I have had very little interaction from people. I am reluctant to develop the Twitter WhiteBall page as I don’t feel inclined to link Elon Musk’s pocket or promote his hateful crackpot view of the world. BlueSky is a possibility but so far as not really taken in a football sense.
Maybe we either try to attract more people, adapt what we do, transfer to Facebook or close this WhiteBall section. The WhiteBallProject will never disappear but it may have to change! I fully intend it to reach 25 years in one form or other. It certainly would not have reached 23 years had it not been for the dedicated and persistent contribution from you people.

I always thought this forum should have been a link on the ITFC website but the official site hasn't really took off . Sadly our official website has stuttered way too much over the years. Not having a go at them as I know it's not a small job to run , plus the costs .

I have often thought of offering to take on the official website but I have never thought of linking it to the WhiteBallProject. I am producing six pages of content for the on line programme which I am sure could be used on the website. I presume the new media guys have plans for the website. I will make some enquiries. Thanks for the suggestion Kev. We could do with some Supporters Group stuff to put on their section on the WhiteBall if you and Alex have time.

If you had said this a year ago i would have jumped at the chance mate but since stepping down as the secretary of the group i not so sure now. Yes i would love to but at the moment i havent been to no where i want to be as in going to the games.
Dont get me wrong my ideas i would love to do are lets say on hold for a while .
But some things i get really frustrated with ...firstly we as a group are always trying to bring in funds for the group especially car boot items . I have printed out flyers , put on facebook , and told people(fans) but i can count on one hand what response we had .. No one wamts to make the bloody effort what a joke . Plus there are a few things i cant go into .
Hoping to get a a certain group (band) from the Chorley area to come to the ground next year but it deoends on the date .

Hi there.... I wrote a lengthy drunken emal so I'm partly pleased it never made it here...
Matchman needs to enjoy his games with no pressure to post. Matchman and Whiteball post good (and unique) stuff all of the time here, and the ITFC website is OK but not great,.. We need the next opposition stuff, the back story, the non-league latest... these are unique to Whiteball... Oh, and the history too... I buy into the 1990s stuff...
Maybe a Forum is not the way. forward - but a WhiteBall website - or even a WhiteBall header/link on the the official site - with mostly ITFC content - would/could be a way to go. It would seem such a shame to loose both of your very, very consistent and fair minded talents.
I, personally, do not do social networking sites. I do not want to...
Interst limited football forums do it for me. BUT if you only have a handful here you have to quit...and find a new way.forward.
Good luck to you both working it all out!

I would like this forum to continue. If John does want to do the match reports then I'm ok with that as well.
As a ilson fan for to many years whiteball was the 1st port of call for a fan when the internet boom started.
Thanks to everyone for posting on here
