Macclesfield could do Ilkeston a favour by beating Worksop, Ashton and Hyde

2nd placed Guiseley should pick up 6 points from their 2 matches
3rd Placed Worksop have 2 tough matches and are likely to lose at Macclesfield
4th placed Ilkeston have 3 home matches
5th placed Ashton may drop points against Macclesfield
6th placed Hebburn could drop points at Warrington Rylands.
7th placed Hyde are having a poor run and they also have to play Macclesfield
8th placed Stockton have 2 tough away matches at Whitby and Ilkeston

So it's a big chance for Ilkeston to consolidate their position and create a gap between the top 4 and the teams below, if they can pick up 9 points.

I'm presuming the club will be looking to bounce back from the heavy defeat against Matlock Town. Whilst they will be not underestimating Basford United it will be a game they will be hoping to put in an improved performance and hopefully a convincing result. Stockton also have a big FA Trophy tie away at Rochdale. Hopefully they are totally exhausted by the time they travel to the NMG. After Ilkeston have garnered  the nine points they have a couple of awkward home times against Morpeth and Workington sandwich between three challenging away ties against Hyde United, Ashton United and Guiseley!

Since our return to Step 3 this is our most successful season. We finished 7th in the Southern League in the 2022-23 season but never really threatened to get into the playoffs. This season, at this moment in time we have a real chance.  We are fortunate to have a settled squad, a management team who know how to get the best out of the team and a good owner. We go into every match with expectations of winning. To be in 4th place in this tough league is better than many of us imagined at the start of the season. 
We were unlucky to lose James Perch who was one of our most experienced and influential players. Unlucky also to lose Mitch Robinson and Alex Marshall through long term injuries. We may soon lose our top scorer Tom Cursons. But these things happen and new players come in. Ian Deakin has made sure that we remain competitive. 
We have 19 matches still to play so anything can happen but this season has seen a big improvement in results. There's bound to be more ups and downs as the season progresses but a playoff position finish is a genuine possibility.
