A look at National League North (where we aspire to be)

.
There are two good seaside trips, Southport and Scarborough.
Local derbies would be Alfreton and Buxton
The average match day attendances in this league is 1224 with Scunthorpe averaging nearly 4000 and 4 other teams averaging over 2000 ie Hereford, Kidderminster, Chester and South Shields. Macclesfield are likely to join these well supported clubs.
Seven teams have gates below 600. But some of these teams are likely to be relegated
Furthest journey north is South Shields and furthest journey south is Oxford City.
Top 5 are currently:  Chester, Scunthorpe, Kidderminster, Brackley and Kings Lynn.
Bottom 4 are currently Marine, Needham Market, Rushall and Farsley Celtic.
Travel costs would be much greater than in Northern Premier League.
We would be competing against many clubs with a similar budget as Macclesfield.

With the loss of Tom Cursons our chances of finishing in a playoff position have become seriously diminished.
If by some freak of chance we did get promoted, we would likely be in the bottom five teams with the lowest support and playing budget and we would most likely spend the season in a relegation battle.

Of course we have to continue in our aim to achieve promotion but it would probably be better if we just miss out.

Just my opinion

Re: A look at National League North (where we aspire to be)

At this critical point in the season, the loss of Tom Cursons could cause us to falter briefly through lack of goals.
Almost certainly, Alex Hardwick would have been given the opportunity to make the position his, but his suspension has scuppered that chance. Hardwick was signed precisely for this eventuality and what happens, he gets suspended.

So who will lead the forward line and wear the number 9 shirt?
We don't seem to have another player in the squad who immediately springs to mind to fulfil that role. So what will we do? Two possibilities for the number 9 shirt are Jamie Walker and Colin Daniel both of whom can play in different positions.
I'm confident Deaks will be actively seeking a solution to this situation and there'll be a few experiments in Tuesday and Thursday's training sessions. Will he bring someone in or as often happens, will someone step up? ("Cometh the hour, cometh the man")
