Brandy tripped in full flight.  another yellow for Hyde. Dec's free kick is defended for a corner. Ref gives Hyde a free kick when the corner comes over. Brilliant play by Dixon gives Abdullah a chance but he's forced off the ball.        Equaliser for HYDE.  Long shot by Scanlon beats Yates         1-1.   61 mins

Big effort by Ilkeston but nothing coming off. It's getting heated as Hyde waste time and boot it anywhere and lkeston are frustrated.

Full time and a 3-1 defeat

Hyde's equaliser changed the game.

Re: Tue 11 Feb 25 : Hyde United v Ilkeston Town : Ko 7 45pm

A lot of moaning on the bus because it was felt that we threw the game away. We should have been more than one up at half time. Then Yates inexplicably let in a long shot and that changed the game. A late tackle gave away a penalty then their player was unmarked for the 3rd goal.  So this has to go down as one that we could have won.
Can't fault the effort but it don't go our way.

Re: Tue 11 Feb 25 : Hyde United v Ilkeston Town : Ko 7 45pm

.
Tue 11th February 2025
Northern Premier League
Hyde United  3  Ilkeston Town  1
Ilkeston’s poor away form continued after relinquishing a half time lead. The Robins appeared to be heading for victory until Hyde levelled with a 25 yard shot that slipped through the hands of Matt Yates. The equaliser proved to be a game changer and Hyde went on to add two more.

The first real attempt on goal was a Jamie Walker effort that struck a Hyde defender but a couple of minutes later Ilkeston were ahead when Sam Parker slammed home from a left wing cross on 15 minutes . Colin Daniel was then close with a power shot before Walker was even closer with a curler that hit the post. Hyde replied with a Matthew Fearnley shot which brought a save from Matt Yates and just after that Jack Redshaw worked himself into a shooting position but his effort was also saved by Yates. A touch of class by Walker nearly bore fruit just before half time and Ilkeston were good value for their interval lead.

The second half started in lively fashion. Three minutes in, Yates did well to deny Redshaw before Jonathan Wafula fired narrowly wide at the other end. Soon after that another chance fell to Wafula and this time his powerful volley was brilliantly parried by Callum Hiddleston. As play switched to the Ilkeston end, Yates pulled off a fine save to thwart Callum Spooner. The goal that Yates will want to forget came on the hour mark. It was a speculative effort from Jordan Scanlon but somehow Yates failed to grasp it. Suddenly Hyde became a greater force and when Frankie Sinfield went down in the area the referee pointed to the spot. Redshaw stepped up to give Hyde the lead on 71 minutes. There was a pinball moment in the Hyde goal area when a couple of Ilkeston attempts were blocked but luckily for Hiddleston the ball ended up in his grip. Hyde’s good fortune continued when Parker’s header struck the bar. But Hyde were always dangerous on the counter and from one of them Lewis Thompson headed perfectly into the top corner from Scanlon’s cross to seal the win for the hosts ten minutes from time.

Re: Tue 11 Feb 25 : Hyde United v Ilkeston Town : Ko 7 45pm

Ilkeston's away record is now by far the worst of all the current playoff contenders

These are the points scored in away matches

Guiseley.        27 points from 15 matches
Ashton.          27  points from 14 matches
Worksop.       27 points from 15 matches
W Rylands     25 points from 16 matches
Stockton        20 points from 14 matches
Hebburn.       18 points from 15 matches
Ilkeston        14 points from 14 matches

It's a good job we have the best home record

Re: Tue 11 Feb 25 : Hyde United v Ilkeston Town : Ko 7 45pm

.
Last night was a disappointment but we're still in a good position. We're still one point behind Stockton but with just one game in hand now.  The trouble is our next game is Guiseley.  A defeat at Guiseley would see our position deteriorate and then the midweek home match with Stockton would be a real pressure game.

The Hyde game showed that if you don't take your chances you end up losing. If one of Jono Wafula's close efforts had gone in and we'd been two up at half time I don't think we'd have lost. Hyde played some great quick passing football but we looked the stronger team. Matt Yates's error was critical but he is a top goalkeeper at this level and even the best keepers occasionally make mistakes. I don't know what the corner count was but we certainly won on that measure.  Declan Eratt-Thompson seems to take all free kicks and corners now and he sent some good ones in last night but we couldn't take advantage. Jack Redshaw, their best player, and Tom Marshall had a right tussle. Tom got the better of him on one occasion and next time they clashed Redshaw was booked leaving Tom smiling. I thought our best player on the night was Declan Eratt-Thompson who was always in the action.
Deaks will definitely be looking for a reaction in the Guiseley match.

Re: Tue 11 Feb 25 : Hyde United v Ilkeston Town : Ko 7 45pm

Ilkeston and Rylands slip up as play-off races takes another twist | NPL round-up | Tuesday 11 February
by JDG Media

Ilkeston Town missed the chance to climb into the Northern Premier League play-off places on Tuesday night after falling to a 3-1 defeat at Hyde United. The Robins came into their latest midweek outing one point behind fifth-placed Stockton Town, having played two games fewer. But despite taking the lead through Sam Parker inside the opening quarter, three goals in the space of 17 second-half minutes condemned Ian Deakin's side to defeat - their sixth in eight league games on the road. In contrast, Hyde ended their nine-game winless run in the league, climbing into the top half as a result.

Elsewhere, it proved to be unlucky 13 for Warrington Rylands as their unbeaten run came to an end at Gainsborough Trinity. The Blues had gone 12 games without defeat, and although they, too, took an early lead on their travels, Gainsborough mounted a fine comeback to deny Neil Reynolds' side the opportunity to make up ground on the top five. Dec Howe was on target again for the hosts - his fourth goal in five matches - as they moved four points clear of the relegation zone.

Another side who put more breathing space between themselves and the drop zone were Workington, thanks to a comeback victory of their own at Bamber Bridge. The Brig took the lead 11 minutes after half-time through Will Russ, but a fine response from the Reds culminated in Steven Rigg scoring his 19th goal of the season to make it 1-1, before substitute Ruben Grewal converted from close range to snatch all three points for his side in the final minutes.

The only other game on Tuesday night saw Lancaster City return to winning ways at home to Prescot Cables. Lewis Mansell struck five minutes from time for the Dolly Blues as they picked up their first league win at home since a 4-3 triumph over Ilkeston back in November.

Results - Tuesday 11 February

  • Bamber Bridge 1-2 Workington
  • Gainsborough Trinity 3-1 Warrington Rylands
  • Hyde United 3-1 Ilkeston Town
  • Lancaster City 1-0 Prescot Cables

Re: Tue 11 Feb 25 : Hyde United v Ilkeston Town : Ko 7 45pm

.
After the Hyde game had finished they put up the footballwebpages results and league table on one of their big television screens. A brilliant idea. Some of their people were excitedly thinking that their win had given them a possibility of reaching the playoffs. It's a possibility but they're currently 9 points off a playoff spot and it would take a good run of results to recover that gap.   Hyde are a decent side though.

Hyde's average attendance is over 600 but only 261 turned up to watch the Ilkeston match, their lowest gate of the season.
