As if only drawing at Blyth wasn't bad enough the torture continued with allowing a very late equaliser to a team that had lost their last five away matches. We fought so hard to get a goal then we threw two points away . What total despair.

One of the worst performances I've seen in ten years following Ilson. The more senior players in the team are playing well below par, and the new players don't look fit to wear the shirt... Abdullah was awful! Kirby-Moore was the only player to show any grit, even though he's far from step 3 level imo... I'm fed of of all the wasteful long-balls down the channels... The amount of ball we wasted today was incredible. I'm surprised we get 50 paying customers if we continue to dish up football like that, never mind the 1000 odd the club want.

Nice one pezamb. - I feel your despair. Conceding a late goal is always a sickener.
You're right about the numerous long balls forward today.

We missed the late goal... And almost our goal too... Watching that was like pulling teeth and we decided to leave around 4.30
We are so much better than that long ball nonsense

Ilkeston Town 1 Prescot Cables 1 Ilkeston’s winless run was extended to five matches after conceding a 96th minute equaliser. The Robins missed several opportunities before Harvey Kirby-Moore put them ahead 12 minutes from time but hopes of a win were dashed in stoppage time. Cables were first to create an opening and keeper Matt Yates did well to get a hand to Jack Goodwin’s effort. At the other end McKeal Abdullah forced his way into the Prescot area but keeper Calvin Hare was behind his attempt. A free kick by Declan Eratt-Thompson found the head of Sam Parker but Hare was there to claim it. Jamie Walker fired a free kick over the bar then was close with another effort that fizzed by the post. Just before half time Walker was there again with a header which flew just wide and the first half ended goalless. The second half started with Ilkeston showing more passion than in the first period and Abdullah’s early effort was blocked by a defender. Then Harvey Kirby-Moore’s glancing header was well held by Hare. All the attacking was by Ilkeston but Hare was proving difficult to beat. He did really well to keep out Kirby-Moore’s close range effort but soon after Ilkeston got the break through. It followed the best move of the game which was finished by Kirby-Moore on 78 minutes. Ilkeston might have had a penalty when Kirby-Moore appeared to be held back when through on goal. Prescot showed little sign of recovering and Walker fired inches wide on 90 minutes after some pinball in the Prescot box. Ilkeston seemed to be in cruise control but six minutes into added time Cables found a leveller through Edy Maieco to leave Ilkeston’s fast fading playoff hopes hanging by a thread.

Worksop and Guiseley big winners in race for the play-offs | NPL round-up | Saturday 1 March
by JDG Media
It proved to be a low-scoring weekend in the Northern Premier League's top division, but there was no shortage of drama at either end of the table. Macclesfield edged closer to the title as D'Mani Mellor's first-half goal was enough to see them past relegation-threatened Matlock Town. Robbie Savage's side are 23 points clear at the top of the division, having won 27 of their 34 league games.
Below them, Worksop Town and Guiseley both collected three points but there was no such success for Ashton United. Worksop scored three goals on the road at Whitby Town, two of those coming at the death as the Tigers snatched victory on the Yorkshire Coast.
Guiseley and Ashton met in the game of the weekend, and it took a Jake Lawlor header midway through the first half to separate the two teams at Nethermoor. It was a crucial result for the Lions, who climb above the Robins and into third after bring to an end their five-match winless run.
Stockton Town remain in the play-offs, despite being forced to settle for a point at home to Basford United. The struggling Lions earned a share of the spoils in the dying minutes as substitute Joe Uveges netted his first league goal for the club since mid-September.
Neither Ilkeston Town or Warrington Rylands were able to close the gap to Stockton after also being held to 1-1 draws on home soil. Ilkeston's hopes of three points against Prescot Cables were dashed in the 96th minute when substitute Edy Maieco struck for the visitors, who remain in the bottom half.
Rylands, meanwhile, opened the scoring four minutes into their game against Gainsborough Trinity but were pegged back soon after, Holy Blues top scorer Dec Howe netting his 29th goal of the season from close range.
Elsewhere, there were 1-0 wins for Morpeth Town, Hyde United and FC United of Manchester, all of whom end the weekend in the top half. The former two scored the only goal of their game in the opening quarter, whereas FC United were forced to wait until the first minute of second-half stoppage time to find their all-important winner, Matt Grivosti steering home a cross from the left. Mark Beesley's side have won three of their last four matches but may be too far adrift to mount a late play-off push, with 11 points currently the gap between themselves and fifth-paced Stockton.
One top-half side that didn't have a positive weekend were Hebburn Town, who were beaten 1-0 at home by Leek Town. The Blues, who picked up crucial points in their fight for survival, struck six minutes after half-time through Tom Scully to end their four-game search for a win.
Further down the division, Bamber Bridge boosted their survival hopes and climbed out of the bottom four with a 5-1 victory over Blyth Spartans. An early Ewan Bange double, either side of JJ Hooper's effort for Spartans, set the Brig on their way before Chris Churchman, Robbie Cleary and Lewis Pilgrim completed the job. Defeat leaves Blyth 10 points adrift at the foot of the table and 18 points from safety, Saturday's defeat their 20th of the league season.
Results - Saturday 1 March

Guiseley 1-0 Ashton United
