Injury to City player.  MOTM Jamie Walker.   Good save by Yates from Brayden Shaw.  City are still having a go and Sam Bailey fires over.  Another City chance as Mansell gets on the end of a cross and finishes in the net but the ball goes over the bar.   Then Shaw is thwarted By Yates who has stopped everything    4-0.    89 mins

Didn't get to see how the game went today but what really gets me is why out player got sent off in the last minutes while four nil up. I don't care how much abuse or what ever you get , you just laff at them ... I use to ...

Re: Sat 15 Mar '25 : Ilkeston Town v Lancaster City. : NMG ko 3pm

.
Sat 15th March 2025
Northern Premier League
Ilkeston Town 4  Lancaster City 0
Ilkeston’s dearth of goals and six game winless run came to a spectacular end with a 4-0 victory over Lancaster City. The visitors had looked the more composed side until Sam Parker’s opener but the goal proved to be a game changer and Ilkeston pressed home their advantage with further goals while keeper Matt Yates kept out all of City’s efforts. The win keeps alive Ilkeston’s slender hopes of making the playoffs.

From the start Lancaster looked the more composed and Marcus Cusani saw his early effort tipped over the bar. It took Ilkeston ten minutes to get an effort on goal which came from Jaden Charles’s corner met by Parker’s head and pushed round the post boy Aiden Dowling. There was then a period of Lancaster dominance until Ilkeston’s opening goal on 27 minutes. The goal came after a blatant shove gave Ilkeston a free kick opportunity and Parker was there at the far post to head past Dowling. The goal inspired Ilkeston and unsettled City and within minutes Kirby-Moore almost doubled the lead with a stinging effort that Dowling managed to parry for a corner. This was followed by a fine run and cross by L’Varn Brandy afterJ amie Walker had created the opening. On 39 minutes  Kirby-Moore got his head to ball before Dowling. The ball wasn’t going to reach the goal though so the Ilkeston forward had to follow up and force the ball over the line while fending off efforts to stop him. Two nil was a great half time lead but the scoreline got even better when Walker headed a third from Connor Dixon’s cross in added time.

Lancaster came out for the second half looking for a quick reply but Brandy nearly made it 4-0 on 53 minutes firing just wide following a brilliant run. It was 4-0 on the hour when Kirby-Moore scored his second of the afternoon after stealing the ball in the penalty area. Dowling then made a superb diving save to deny Declan Eratt-Thompson as Ilkeston looked for more goals. City were unlucky not to pull one back on 70 minutes when Ilkeston’s defenders blocked three shots in quick succession following a corner before Colin Daniel managed to clear. Brayden Shaw was then denied by Yates who was saving everything thrown at him. There was another City chance when Lewis Mansell got on the end of a venomous cross but while he finished in the net the ball went over the bar. So a frustrating afternoon for Lancaster who had played well but found themselves four goals behind. Frustrations boiled over in added time when a player from each side received a red card. Man of the match Jamie Walker was the unfortunate Ilkeston player.
