Matlock

Never a dull moment with Dave Hilton. Matlock roll the dice again -  with 7 games to go, they're looking for a new manager ...

Re: Matlock

Do you know what. Matlock for me before this season where the prototype I wanted ilkeston to copy. Apart from this season with king Dave at the wheel they have never had a money man.

Run by a committee, with sub committees all pulling together to do  different jobs around the club.

Re: Matlock

I have been saying for ages that we as a club should look to Matlock as a role model. They been in the league for a while looking comfortable as they can be. But now , what the hell and there was me thinking they could be promotion candidates this season.

Re: Matlock

.
What a game it would be when the teams meet on Bank holiday Monday if Ilkeston are still in with a playoff chance and Matlock need the points to survive relegation.

Before the Bank Holiday clash, Ilkeston play FC United (H) and Macclesfield (A) and Matlock face Hyde (A) and Worksop (H)

That's two really tough games for Matlock so they are likely to still be in desperate need of points when they play Ilkeston.
But If Ilkeston drop points against FC United or Macclesfield then their playoff hopes will probably be over before the Matlock match.

even if we were ( and its a big if ) still going for the play off`s the Bank Holiday is a massive game for both teams . BUT what normally happens for us on a big game and a big attendance on a bank holiday ............we lose .

The last time we had a home Easter Monday match was against Shepshed in our promotion season 2021-22.
On that occasion we lost 2-4 in a match watched by 2008 spectators. A win would have made us Champions in front of our own fans but we had to wait until the following week to clinch the title at Wisbech.

Easter Monday 18 Apr 22 Shepshed (H)  Lost 2-4  att 2008
