FC United are mid table with 49 points (12 points less than Ilkeston)
Their away record is better than their home record
Their home record is: P19, W5, D6, L8, F30, A30, Points 21
Their away record is : P19, W7, D7, L5, F21, A24, Points 28
FC United made a poor start to the season and spent 5 weeks in 21st position back in October before gradually climbing to mid table.
They are unbeaten in their last 5 away games. In their last away match they drew 1-1 at Mickleover. Prior to that they won at Gainsborough, Workington and Lancaster all by a 1-0 scoreline and the game before that they drew 2-2 at Matlock.
By contast they have lost their last three home matches against Stockton, Leek and Hebburn
Adam La Fondre is their top scorer with 16 goals
With 4 matches to play we're 5 points behind Ashton United. Can we close the gap on Saturday.
Ashton are at home to Gainsborough who are a decent side.
We have to try to win and hope Ashton drop points.
If we were to win and Ashton draw then we're only 3 points behind them.
That would give us a massive incentive to go for a win against the mighty Macclesfield.
Macclesfield have already won the league so it could be a good time to go there.
On the same Saturday Ashton are away to Bamber Bridge who are in need of points to avoid relegation.
Of course, It is far more likely that we lose at Macclesfield and our playoff chances are then over but first we need to beat FC United to stay in with a chance. Any points dropped against FC United will almost certainly put the playoffs beyond us.

Shouldn't Jamie Walker be back from his 4 game ban this week?

FC United and Macclesfield are top of the attendance league for both home and away matches
That means they take the most supporters to away games as well as home games
.
And they happen to be our next two opponents so two big games to come in front of big crowds
Sat 12 Apr 25. FC United home
Sat 19 Apr 25. Macclesfield away
FC United could bring 500 plus fans to the NMG taking the gate well above a thousand
We then have the Bank Holiday match against Matlock on Mon 21 April so we should end the season's home games with two good attendances .

Next up for our Men's Team is a trip to @ilkestontown_fc this Saturday for a 3pm kick off. Travelling supporters should be aware there will be a minute's silence pre-match to remember a young supporter of Ilkeston who has recently passed away.

Spoke to Ian Deakin at training tonight. Jamie Walker is back for the FC United match and Kornell McDonald will be back for the Macclesfield match. Deaks is quietly confident that if we beat FC United then we are capable of getting a result at Macclesfield.

I'm with you on that mate.
We are sending matlock down and going to bamber bridge and winning to make the playoffs

To catch Ashton we need them to drop 5 points from these 4 matches:
Sat 12 Apr. Gainsborough (H)
Sat 19 Apr. Bamber Bridge (A)
Mon 21 Apr Mickleover (H)
Sat 26 Apr Workington (A)
Over the last three seasons Ashton have finished the season badly;
Last season 2023-24 they lost 3 of their last 4 matches
2022-23 season they lost 4 of their last 5 matches
2021-22 season they only picked up 2 points from their last 7 matches
If we can beat FC United tomorrow and Gainsborough can take points off Ashton, then our playoff hopes are alive again. Which of us takes the final playoff place could go down to the last match when we travel to Bamber Bridge and Ashton go to Workington.

NPL Preview of matches to be played Sat 12 April 25
By JDG Media
Guiseley could take a giant step towards booking their spot in the Northern Premier League play-offs this weekend, but only if they beat champions Macclesfield.
The Lions are eight games unbeaten, although their wait to mathematically confirm a top-five berth has been prolonged, as a result of successive draws against Matlock Town and Warrington Rylands. It won't get any easier this weekend, with runaway title-winners Macclesfield still hunting the Northern Premier League record for points during a season. With four games remaining, Robbie Savage's side are now just seven behind Darlington's tally of 104, set during the 2015/16 season.
Sandwiched between Macclesfield and Guiseley in the table are second-placed Worksop Town, who have already booked their ticket to the play-offs. The Tigers saw their nine-game winning streak in the league come to an end last weekend against Stockton Town, and they will hope to bounce back at the first attempt at home to Bamber Bridge.
The Brig have won two of their last four matches and currently have a three-point cushion to the bottom four.
Of the other sides in the top five, Stockton visit Prescot Cables and Ashton United host Gainsborough Trinity. A memorable season shows no sign of stopping for Stockton, who were promoted via the NPL East Division play-offs last season and are seeking a fifth successive league win as momentum builds ahead of the run-in.
For Ashton, a five-point gap separates them and the chasing pack. The Robins have fended off their nearest challenges in recent weeks after successive wins, and their opponents on Saturday are seemingly meandering towards a mid-table finish after back-to-back defeats.
Outside of the top five, Ilkeston Town, Morpeth Town and Hyde United are all at home to FC United of Manchester, Basford United and Matlock Town respectively. The latter two start the weekend in the bottom four, and Basford know that defeat on the road, coupled with other results going against them, could result in relegation with three games to spare.
Basford will hope that fifth-bottom Whitby Town fail to take three points from their latest home outing as Warrington Rylands visit the Yorkshire Coast. The travelling Blues have picked up more points on the road than at home this season, continuing on from their remarkable record of losing just once on their travels during the previous league campaign.
Elsewhere, Leek Town and Workington could take a giant stride towards survival in their Saturday showdown at Harrison Park. Workington have lost three in a row on their travels - a run of form they'll be hoping can come to an end against Leek, who themselves will be searching for a fourth win in the last five.
The bottom two are both on their travels, with Mickleover knowing that only a win will provide a reprieve from relegation. Currently 11 points from safety with 12 still up for grabs, they travel to a Hebburn Town side that have endured a torrid time of late, losing six of their last seven matches.
For already-relegated Blyth Spartans, a trip to Lancaster City awaits. The Dolly Blues tasted defeat in new boss Jimmy Marshall's first game in charge, and he will have an immediate opportunity to put things right on home soil as his side look to ease their relegation fears by extending the four-point gap currently separating them from the bottom four. All fixtures will kick off at 3pm, unless stated otherwise.

Well i am hoping for an Ilson win mainly because i am bringing down my nephew and my grand son . My grandson has been to few games this season which he likes especially sitting in the clock tower stand. My nephew is from Australia but has been to a few games over the years when his family have come over He plays for a small time team in Adelaide which he plays in gaol. He came down the other week against Warrington and likes the look of our ground especially the clock tower . I am bringing him down to the game tomorrow to which the game from the clock tower stand .
So we are looking forward to the game and a good attendance plus hopefully a good win for the ilson , if that happens my nephew will fly back to Australia next Tues with stories to tell his mates etc ... I am going to try and get him to put the word out about Ilson starting with giving him a beach towel . I cant really give him a woolly hat and a scarf can i lol lol I did ask Alex if he had a spare xl shirt but he hasnt got one . My ask him if he wants a flag to take to Australia i have one spare .

Another tough game at the NMG tomorrow. A crucial fixture against FC United as we try to keep our playoff hopes alive and it's also a day to remember one of our very special fans who recently passed away. Kyle was one of our football family and well known by many of our supporters.
We're expecting a big crowd so get there early and enjoy the sunshine.
Let's win this one for Kyle.

It’s Match day No 39 and the last of our Saturday home games for this season.
There’s one more home game after this one on Easter Monday 21st April and that’s against our Derbyshire rivals Matlock Town.
We have the second best home record in the league :
Played 19, Won 12, Drawn 5, Lost 2, Goals For 43, Goals Against 19, Points 41
We’re still in with a chance of making the playoffs so come and see these two crucial matches. Today we entertain FC United of Manchester and they are sure to bring plenty of support and maybe a visit from Eric Cantona, one of their co-owners. We’re expecting our biggest gate of the season so a great atmosphere awaits,
Maximum points from our last four matches gives us a great chance of finishing in the final playoff place.
If we were to make the playoffs we would be the away team so there is definitely only two matches to go this season at the New Manor Ground.

15 minutes to kickoff. it's a lovely sunny day and the ground is filling up.
Plenty of parking spaces today as the field behind the clocktower goal is being used,
Ilkeston are in red and white. FCU are in yellow and green.
The teams are out. all the ilkeston players are carrying one red and one white balloon.
At the end of a minutes applause the balloons were released.
