Worksop made the playoffs last season but lost 3-1 to Macclesfield in their playoff semi-final. Can they do better this season? They play underdogs Ashton United.
Stockton are trying for consecutive promotions and are the in-form team. Guiseley looked like finishing 2nd but a poor run of results meant they finished 4th.

One league has gone to penalties and others are playing extra time. Very odd

The semi-finals were won by the teams with home advantage so it's :
NPL Prem final. Worksop Town v Stockton Town Promotion to Step 2 (NLNorth)
NPL East final Dunston v Stocksbridge Park Steels Promotion to Step 3 (NPL Prem)
NPL Mids final Corby Town v Worcester City Promotion to Step 3. (Southern League Premier Central)
NPL West final Hednesford Town v Congleton Town Promotion to Step 3 (Southern League Premier Central if Hednesford win or NPL if Congleton win)
The six teams going out of the NPL Prem are:
1 Macclesfield
2 Worksop or Stockton
3 Blyth
4 Basford
5 Mickleover
6 Matlock
Likely to replace them in the Northern Premier League:
1 Warrigton Town (relegated from NL North)
2 Farsley Celtic (relegated from NL North)
3 Cleethorpes (from NPL East)
4 The winner of Dunston v Stocksbridge (from NPL East)
5 Widnes (from NPL West)
6 Congleton (if they beat Hednesford. (from NPl West)
If Hednesford beat Congleton they would go into the Southern League Premier Central.
There may then have to be a movement of one Southern League team to make up the six needed to join the Northern Premier League.
Possible choices to be moved from the Southern League Premier Central to the Northern Premier League are Spalding United or Stamford

So no Belper, Long Eaton, Matlock, Mickleover, or Basford for us next season.

If Hednesford beat Congleton in their playoff final, I'm thinking that they might go into the Southern League and Spalding United or Stamford could get switched from the Southern League Premier Central to the Northern Premier League.
Or Rushall Olympic (relegated from National Leagur North) could be put in the Northern Premier rather than Southern League.

From what I have garnered from other social media outlets is that normally when a player is sent off his suspension starts in seven days. I think this is what Stockton presumed. However people are saying that the rules are different in the play off and thd player sent off should not have played. Most speculation is about what happens next if found guilty. Most posters believe that Guiseley will be in reinstated but at least one suggest Ilkeston should bd allowed to take their place in the play offs! Some suggest that Worksop will now get a bye!

The Northern Premier League officers and staff work tirelessly to ensure that their rules are strictly adhered to.
One could say they work tirelessly to try to catch clubs out for administrative errors
Either way I don't think that the League would make such a controversial call without being sure of their decision. Personally, I can't see the League backing down
Stockton have until midday today to appeal.
Interesting to see what the outcome is. My guess is Stockton will be removed from the playoffs. But If that happens; do the losers (Guiseley) go through to the final or do Worksop get a bye in the final?
This situation appears to be unprecedented.
It would be a pity if Worksop were given a bye in the final. because If there was no playoff final the income from a 2000 plus gate would be lost.
What about this for a solution
Stockton need to receive some sort of punishment so how about they lose home advantage and the two teams play again but this time at Guiseley on Saturday. Then the Final be put back to Bank Holiday Monday.

Club Update
Stockton Town FC can confirm that we have now attended a hearing with The FA regarding the recent disciplinary matter involving the play-off semi final. The case is now handed back to the NPL who we are in communication with regarding next steps, and will have more information tomorrow evening. As always, we thank our supporters for their patience and continued backing during this time whilst the club is working tirelessly to bring this matter to a conclusion. We will provide an update as soon as we receive official confirmation.
So the outcome is to be decided by the NPL who will give their decision Saturday evening.
I would expect the NPL to stick to their original decision that Stockton played an ineligible player,
If they were to allow Stockton to go unpunished and to play in the playoff final this would be unprecedented.
If Stockton are disqualified, are they replaced by Guiseley or do Worksop get a bye in the final ?
Thousands of tickets have already been sold by Worksop and Stockton for the final.
What a situation!!!!

NPL Step 4 playoff finals (Sat 3rd May)
Today’s 3 NPL Step 4 playoff winners will join champions Cleethorpes, Quorn and Widnes in being promoted to Step 3. Some of six promoted teams will be allocated a place in the NPL Premier League Premier Division and some of them will be allocated a place in the Southern League Premier Central
Today’s Playoff finals
NPL East Div playoff : Dunston v Stocksbridge.
NPL Mids Div playoff : Corby v Worcester
NPL West Div playoff : Hednesford v Congleton.
Who are the strongest of the teams who could come into our league?
Quorn won the Midlands division by the biggest margin and scored the most points. Their 103 points was 18 points more than 2nd placed Corby but Quorn are likely to be allocated a place in the Southern League.
Cleethorpes in the East Division scored 93 points, 12 points more than Dunston
Widnes in the West Division scored 85 points, 3 points more than Hednesford.
League points scored by the teams in today's playoffs
Corby 85 points finished 2nd NPL Mids
Worcester 73 points finished 4th NPL Mids
Hednesford 82 points finished 2nd NPL West
Congleton 78 points finished 3rd. NPL West
Dunston 81 points finished 2nd NPL East
Stocksbridge 78 points finished 3rd NPL East
None of the teams finishing 5th in the NPL leagues got through to a playoff final.

NPL Premier Division Playoff Final
The delay following the ineligible player charge against Stockton has certainly kept things interesting.
Promotion to the National League is at stake so whatever the outcome, it's going to be controversial and create a lot of reaction. I imagine the League were hoping the FA would help them out but it seems not to be so.
The league are in a tight spot with a difficult decision to make and they are likely to be criticised whichever outcome they decide upon.
From what I can gather the wording of the rules regarding player eligibility following a dismisal in a playoff match are not 100% crystal clear. Because of this Stockton just might win their appeal. Hopefully the League will give a reasoning behind their decision and the rules are made much clearer.

Only one goal in the playoff finals so far
Hednesford 1 Congleton 0 Jake Jervis. (pen) 45+7 mins.
No goals in the other playoff finals at half time.

Step 4 Playoff Final Results:
NPL East. - Hednesford 2 Congleton 0
NPL Mids. - Corby 1 Worcester 2
NPL West. - Dunston 0 Stocksbridge 0 (Stocksbridge win 5-3 on pens)
So the six NPL Step 4 teams being promoted to Step 3 are:
Champions Playoff Winners
NPL East: Cleethorpes. Hednesford Town
NPL Mids: Quorn Worcester City
NPL West: Widnes Stocksbridge Park Steels
Cleethorpes, Widnes and Stocksbridge will almost certainly be allocated a place in the Northern Premier League, Premier Division.
Quorn, Hednesford and Worcester are located south of Ilkeston so will probably be allocated places in the Southern League.
