Started early on the new signings, 2 lads from Buxton, taking a drop from National League North play offs to Northern premier division 1. Maybe for the money. I bet Montels jumped ship

No montel has done a u-turn, he's back at matlock

Montel is a mate of the owners?

Dave Hilton supposedly “personally “ lost £3.5 MILLION pounds at Scunthorpe and just walked away and nearly lost his sanity whilst there. He must have another personal stash to lose again at Matlock. Montel won’t be on £100 a week that’s for sure and the lads from Buxton won’t either to drop to that level.
What we going to have to pay to get decent quality in?
Frightening.

Matlock Town are pleased to announce the return of forward Montel Gibson following talks with manager Adam Clayton and owner David Hilton. Montel has football league experience, having made 24 appearances in League Two for Notts County, where he started his career, and most recently for Grimsby Town under legendary manager Ian Holloway during the 2020/21 season. More recently, Gibson played for AFC Telford United in the Southern Premier League Central Division. He netted 24 times in two seasons at the SEAH Stadium, including 16 last season as he helped his side make the play-off final. He moved to Hereford at the beginning of last season, where he scored on his debut in a 3-0 win over South Shields, going on to score seven goals in total before a move to the Proctor Cars Stadium at the beginning of September. Montel went on to score an extraordinary 22 goals in 36 appearances for the Gladiators, becoming a huge fan favourite in the process. The fans will be thrilled to see the forwards return and can look forward to seeing him continue to build upon his legacy at the club. Welcome back, Monts!

Which ever Step 4 league that Matlock are allocated I think that they will be favourites to win it. They will most likely be in NPL East and will have Belper as their local derby.
Probably the strongest Step 4 team this coming season will be promoted Bury and they will almost certainly be in NPL West.
If NonLeagueMaps predictions turn out to be correct then there will be four local teams together in the NPL Midlands Division, relegated Basford and Mickleover plus Long Eaton and Carlton. It's difficult to predict who might win that league.
