Guiseley have confirmed that winger Lewis Whitham has opted to join Worksop Town ahead of their return to the National League North next season.
Whitham, 23, joined the Lions in November 2022 from Alfreton Town and went on to feature 45 times, scoring eight goals and earning the club's Players' Player of the Season award at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.
A former Stocksbridge Park Steels and Liversedge player, he suffered a season-ending ACL injury in March 2023, which forced him to the sidelines until November 2024.
He subsequently made 26 appearances this season, with his final one coming against his new side Worksop Town, as they fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Tigers earlier this month.
On the acquisition of Whitham, Worksop Town manager Craig Parry said: "I’m delighted to get Lewis over the line, he’s someone that we’ve had eyes on for a long time.
"We’ve followed his career over the last couple of years, and there’s no doubt he’s got bags of ability and can play numerous positions.
"We have a player here that not long ago was touted for league football, and he’s still young with bags of potential. “He’s a good size, has got great ability and will cause many problems for opposition defenders. So yeah, we wish him luck and welcome him on board, and we feel we’ve got a good player with bags of ability, and we want to help him develop and kick on to the next level.”
Not gone down well. Some comments from Guiseley supporters:
"what the fuck."
"Wow, a kick in teeth to the supporters."
"Relegation pending for you bag heads."
"Please can we announce a signing"

Last season, Guiseley looked favourites to win the playoffs after spending 14 weeks in second place. but a five match winless run derailed their progress in January / February. (Defeats against Morpeth, Prescot and Lancaster followed by draws against Ilkeston and Leek)
They were leapfrogged in the league table by Worksop who finished strongly and then by Stockton meaning they finished 4th.
They lost to Stockton in their playoff semi-final but Stockton had played on ineligible player so Guiseley were re-instated. However, they failed to benefit from their good fortune and lost in the playoff final against Worksop.
