They signed prolific scorer Margetts. Now they've paid a fee for a central defender. Looks like Trinity are giving it a go next season.
HARRISON BEEDEN JOINS HOLY BLUES
Gainsborough Trinity are delighted to announce the signing of promising young centre back Harrison Beeden, who joins the club ahead of the 2025/26 season. Beeden brings with him valuable experience at Northern Premier League level, having spent the 2024/25 season with Lancaster City following a strong campaign with Whitby Town the previous year.
PLAYER DEPARTURE: HARRISON BEEDEN
Luke Oakes. 24 May
Lancaster City Football Club can confirm the departure of defender Harrison Beeden.
Following an approach from fellow NPL Premier Divison side Gainsborough Trinity, the defender joins the Lincolnshire side for an undisclosed fee.
Beeden joined the club last summer as a marquee signing under Chris Willcock from Whitby Town. Beeden made 45 appearances, scoring three times for the Dolly Blues and was rewarded for his performances by winning the supporters player of the season award.

It's notable that Declan Howe is not on this list of players available to be sponsored.
So it appears that Gainsborough's top striker hasn't yet signed for next season.
Why is he keeping them waiting? Is he considering other offers?

Gainsborough Trinity have made another statement of intent, unveiling former York City defender Adam Crookes as their third summer signing.
The left-sided central defender brings a wealth of experience to the Holy Blues, having played in the Football League and National League after moving on from Nottingham Forest, where he came through the youth ranks.
The arrival of the 27-year-old, who can operate in the centre of defence or at left-back, adds further depth and quality to the club’s defensive line ahead of the new season.
"I’m really pleased to get the deal done and join Gainsborough Trinity," Crookes said. "Russ and the club have been great with me ever since I signalled my interest in coming here. The club’s ambition is clear to see. "I look forward to the season ahead, and I’m excited to see what this squad can achieve together."
Despite an impressive campaign on the cup front - the club reached the second round proper of the FA Cup before losing to Football League side Harrogate Town in front of the BBC Sport cameras, and also made it to the last 16 of the FA Trophy- Russ Wilcox's side will be hoping for improvement in the league after narrowly missing out on the play-offs for a second successive season.
They have already announced the arrival of prolific forward Jonny Margetts following his departure from King's Lynn Town, while promising defender Harrison Beeden has also joined the Holy Blues after a successful spell at Lancaster City last term.
Expressing his admiration for defender Crookes, Gainsborough boss Wilcox described his latest summer arrival as a "huge signing" for the club. He added: "Adam is a player we’ve admired for some time, and I’m absolutely delighted to welcome him to our football club after he announced his departure from National League play-off team York City just a few days ago. "He’s a great age at 27 with Football League experience at Port Vale, and a National League promotion winner at Grimsby Town only three seasons ago. “Being a left-footed centre-back gives us different options and balance to the team.”

Jonny Margetts, left Matlock to join Kings Lynn in the National league and go full time professional. He regularly featured in the National League team of the week. Spent 2 seasons there before dropping back into non league. A prolific goal scorer through out his career and I would put Gainsborough as a favourite to go up either direct or via the layoffs

I agree - Gainsborough should definitely make the playoffs at the very least.

Goes to show what a cup run does for your club

A) it screws up your league campaign
B) it gives you cash to spend on players in the next campaign.
Any news on the whereabouts of Declan Howe ?
