After watching Alnwick Town destroy higher league Whickham 5-1 last night I am getting that new season buzz early this season. I hope Ilkeston entertain you all this afternoon and remember there should be a few ex Robins in the Eastwood ranks!

Brilliant skill by Youmbi turns defence into attack. Good race forward by Fox and he wins a corner. Great counter attack by Eastwood but the effort on goal is way too high. 1-1 33 mins
Offline
Brandy fouled and Eastwood player is booked. Tom Marshall booked for a trip. Eastwood free kick is saved by Wharton. Cracking goal for Eastwood. 1-2. 44 mins.
Offline
Brandy is booked for a poor challenge. Half Time. Ilkeston 1 Eastwood 2.
Good first half with both teams showing attacking intent.
Offline
Ilkeston were well on top to start with but Eastwood gradually fought their way back into contention and the half ended evenly. Regarding the new players, Youmbi looks useful and Whyle was steady in defence. Up front, Fox showed some good touches but looks a bit lightweight. Keeper Wharton looks okay but he's been beaten twice.Very impressed with Thornhill.

Thanks for the updates.
A couple of things for me... Positives, new keeper looks ok.. number 11 Dylan Youmbi was tricky and pacy, Robbie Fox looks the closest we've had to a TC since he left... Jordan Stevens looked good when he came on
Negatives... The defence looked creaky as heck (to be expected I suppose) and WHY o WHY is Walker playing at left back?! Bonkers... Has he asked to play there? It's like putting Cristiano Ronaldo in defence!

There were a few moans after the match but the purpose of a pre-season friendly is not to win it but rather to have a look at different players.
It's difficult to make a proper judgement after one viewing but here's my thoughts:
Matt Thornhill (midfield) looked a very good replacement for Lindon Meikle
Dylan Youmbi (forward) was the standout performer in my opinion. Fast, skilful and energetic.
Dylan Wharton (goalkeeper) did okay and looked good collecting crosses but I'm yet to be convinced that he's as good as Matt Yates.
Robbie Fox (forward) tried hard, good work rate but didn't find the net.
Tyler Whyle (central defender) gave a promising performance. Steady without standing out. Similar to Luke Cox.

Right about the top 4 but the lad Tyler was bloody rubbish.
We need a 6ft hairy assed barstool at the back
Also I think Tom Marshall was bad as well.
