Which of our six Step 4 local teams will do best?
Basford,
Belper,
Carlton,
Long Eaton,
Matlock,
Micklover,
Matlock are in the much tougher NPL East Division but I expect them to win promotion.
The other five will meet in the NPL Midand Division and this is where I think they might finish: (all in the top half of the table)
4th Mickleover : Expect them to bounce back and make the playoffs
6th Basford : Should be playoff contenders
7th Belper : Probably finish just outside the playoffs
10th Carlton : Always finish top half but that seems to be all they want.
11th Long Eaton : Probably mid table finish

We've seen Carlton play now and have to admit they deserved their win against us. They're very physical and have a brilliant keeper so I think they will do well in the NPL Midland Division. They finished 7th last season in the much tougher East Division so I think they will be hoping to make the playoffs this coming season.
Belper were also moved from the East Division to the Midland Division. They finished 4th last season so expectation will be to make the playoffs again.
The pre-season friendly between Basford and Matlock ended in a 4-3 win for the Ambers and will boost their expectations.
Mickleover appear to be being careful with their finances and rumour is that they have been trying to unload at least one of their higher paid contract players. But they beat Burton Albion Under 21s by 5-0 on Saturday
Meanwhile Long Eaton beat Gedling MW away on Saturday by 5-2.

Talking about mickleover. I would take Ryan Wilson to play left back. This would free up Jamie Walker and give us more balance in the team.
