Ex Ilkeston favourite David Morgan joins Warrington Town

.
Warrington Town's summer rebuild continues, with their three latest signings confirmed on Saturday afternoon.

Experienced midfielder David Morgan has joined the club following his departure from National League North side Southport, while goalkeeper Liam Isherwood and defender Matty Waters have also completed moves to the Yellows.
Morgan, who turned 31 on Friday, adds vast experience to Paul Carden’s squad, having made 189 appearances for Southport across two spells. He featured 35 times in the National League North last season and ended the campaign as the club’s caretaker manager following the departure of Jim Bentley. Warrington Town say Morgan will form a "key part" of their team in the Northern Premier League next season as the club seeks an immediate return to the National League North.

Earlier in his career, the midfielder secured a move to AFC Flyde for a five-figure transfer fee. Morgan has featured for a number of clubs during his time in the game, including in the Football League with Accrington Stanley.

David Morgan was probably our best player ten years ago and played in the side that reached the playoff final in 2015

I'm starting to think Warrington Town may do better than the mid-table position that I predicted earlier.  They've made loads of new signings so they will have a completely different team from the one that suffered relegation last season. Will the new players be good enough to earn them an instant return to the National League North? It will be difficult with a fresh team but I'm now thinking they could be serious playoff challengers.

The Northern Premier this season looks a really tough league. All of the following 12 teams will think they can be genuine promotion contenders and finish in the top five:
      1 Gainsborough Trinity
      2 Stockton Town
      3 Hednesford
      4 Ashton United
      5 Guiseley
      6 Warrington Town
      7 Hyde United
      8 Ilkeston
      9 Rushall Olympic
    10 Warrington Rylands

    11 Morpeth
    12 Prescot Cables
