New signing

A few of us have been crying out for a big lad at the back. Certainly looks good on his feet for a big lad.

lkeston Town are delighted to announce the signing of 6’5” centre half Essa Janneh.

A towering presence in defence, Janneh joins the Robins having most recently represented Stratford Town in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central.

The 25-year-old has recently relocated to Derbyshire after spells playing for Corinthian Casuals, Eastbourne Borough and Bognor Regis Town.

Among his previous clubs are Farsley Celtic – where he featured last season alongside current Ilkeston Town players Dylan Youmbi and Robbie Fox.

.
6’5” centre half Essa Janneh.  (age 25).

He’s the one I’ve been going on about. He’s looked really good when training with the team on Tuesday and Thursday.

Re: New signing

Just hope hes the one we have been looking for , its been ages since we had a commanding centre back   The.last one that admired who was a right trojan and that was Chris Shaw wow what a player .  Dont get me wrong we have had some good uns but like a trojan in Chris he put his body on the line every game . After the game he could hardly walk at times but he was there at the next game ....

Re: New signing

Chris Shaw scored the new Ilkeston Towns first ever goal when he came as a sub against Uttoxeter Town. It was a beautifully struck free kick. He was a great character and a very good player. Often after games he could be seen having a crafty fag behind the clubhouse and when I spoke to him he told me hid knees were so bad he could hardly move after games and the fags helped numb the pain. Apparently he signed as just a back up and had no intention in becoming a fixture but such was the enthusiasm around the new club he quickly became a cult hero!
