Two points dropped makes it pretty much mission impossible now for Ilkeston to catch Walsall Wood. Passing football or running with the ball were really difficult on the gluepot pitch. Ilkeston had their chances but didn't take them with Alex Marshall seeming to have lost his goalscoring touch. He had a really good chance immediately after scoring but lifted his shot too high with just the keeper to beat. That proved to be a costly miss when Griff equalised. The goal had a touch of fortune when the ball became stuck in the goalmouth mud and Commins was on the spot to score. Ilkeston really tried to retrieve the situation but Griff defended with a bit of luck and a lot of effort. In the last five minutes Ilkeston had five corners but couldn't make one count. Well done to Griff for excellent defending in the closing stages.

Thanks for the updates John. A game in which Ilkeston had enough chances to win. The bumpy pitch did not help the Robins passing game but saying we cannot deny that Nuneaton Grif worked hard and deserved their point. Their goalkeeper sixteen year old Aiden Jeyes made his debut and had a very good game. My Man of the Match was Tom Marshall who hardly put a foot wrong closely followed by Micah Edwards who made Ilkestons goal and drove forward as much as possible. Chris Shaw also had a very assured performance after his unfortunate errors against Atherstone Town. The Robins will next week be able to have another goal at beating Grif. They will not however underestimate their opponents has they now know that Grif are no pushovers.
