    Chelsea bound

    Ex Ilkeston player Justin Walker will become part of Liam Roseniors staff at Chelsea.

    From memory he was a good player for us.

    He made 86 appearances for Ilkeston between 2006-08 before moving on to Halifax Town with Nigel Jemson. He was a cultured player and a nice bloke! I think he might have played for Scunthorpe United when they met us in the FA Cup!

    He did not play in the first FA Cup encounter as he was suspended but returned in the replay at the New Manor Ground!

    Well done to Justin... That said, I was at Scunthorpe and am still wiping the tears away from my eyes....

    Kevin Wilson - manager at Ilson 2009-2015 (is that right?)
    Friendly -v- a Chelsea XI ... a little bit more recently.
    And this from memory... an Erewash binman rescued and bought-in an old Ilkeston Town account book (pre-WWI) to Erewash Museum in the mid 1990s... I'm pretty sure there was a player in there that was listed down as transferred to Chelsea for £5....!!!  There's a reasearch visit for someone....

    Sadly, the wonderful club historian Duncan Payne did not go back that early with his book 'Hembury to Harbottle' - which I have just dug out for the first time in a while... Are you still out there Duncan...? (If I'm behind the times or have forgotten incoming news here - please forgive me...).

    I can’t think of anyone who did more for Ilkeston supporters over the years than Duncan Payne.
