Derbyshire Senior Cup - Quarter Final
Ilkeston Town 0 Alfreton Town 0
On a bitterly cold night Ilkeston edged out Alfreton and reached the semi finals of the Derbyshire Senior Cup. With no goals in 90 minutes the tie was decided by a penalty shootout and Robins keeper Alfie Roberts became the hero making two saves. 

The first half was a physical battle with neither side able to gain ascendency with many free kicks interrupting play. Robbie Fox was close for Ilkeston with a half volley on the turn that flew just wide and soon after Siya Ligendza had an opportunity for Alfreton but dragged his shot wide. There was a brief stoppage in play when a drone was spotted above the pitch. On the resumption L’Varn Brandy was closest to opening the scoring with a curler just over the bar then just before half time Gerry McDonagh had a chance to put Alfreton ahead but was denied by a stunning Roberts save.  

The much more entertaining second half opened with Sam Bird fizzing an effort towards goal which was blocked. Fox latched on to a through ball but dragged his shot wide while Afreton’s Harrison Perritt blazed an attempt over the bar, Fedel Ross-Lang curled a lovely cross into the box but Alfreton defended it. Half way through Alfreton had their best spell with most of their opportunities stemming from long throw-ins into the Ilkeston box. Roberts produced an excellent save just before the 90 minute mark and neither side could find a winner in added time so the game went to penalties.
