Ilkeston corner by Stevens. Header is inches too high Odunaiya is bundled over. Guiseley counter and shot is just too high. Now some pressure by Guiseley. Should be a good finish to the match. 1-0. 86 mins

Thought the 2 new lads did well today. The centre forward played for us even though Belper United had a game, how come he’s not played before now. Based on today’s performance he looks a good addition

Northern Premier League
Ilkeston Town 1 Guiseley 0
After two disappointing defeats Ilkeston returned to winning ways with a single goal victory against Guiseley. There were debuts for defender Jay Abudu and forward Daniel Odunaiya.
After a slow start the first real opportunity fell to Guiseley when Amir Berchil’s through ball put Joao Silva one on one with Alfie Roberts but the Guiseley winger placed his shot wide when he looked certain to score. Ilkeston benefitted from the let off soon after. Debutant Daniel Odunaiya fired a powerful shot which hit the inside of the post and flew across the goal. Jamie Walker retrieved the ball and his cross was headed in by Harvey Kirby-Moore. Sam Parker was close to adding a second with a header which Joe Cracknell did well to keep out. Guiseley had a chance from Harrison Hooper’s free kick but despite a diversion off Jay Abudu’s boot ,Roberts made the save. Guiseley could have levelled just before half time but Roberts saved brilliantly from Burchil.
Ilkeston started the second half with determination and five minutes in, Odunaiya headed home but the offside flag had been raised. Ilkeston then had a free kick opportunity. Skipper Tom Marshall took charge but his effort brought a diving save from Cracknell. Dylan Youmbi blazed an effort past Cracknell’s post before Kirby-Moore thought he’d secured the three points when he turned in a cross from the right. But celebrations were cut short when the referee ruled that there had been a foul on Cracknell. Another Parker header was just too high as the Robins continued to make but not take opportunities. Five minutes from time Guiseley had their best spell putting Ilkeston’s defence under some pressure but just into the seven added minutes a counter attack saw L’Varn Brandy rattled the Guiseley crossbar. Guiseley were then awarded a free kick near the corner of the Ilkeston penalty area. They packed the Ilkeston goalmouth for the cross but the header went over the bar. There was one last chance for Guiseley but Elliott Owen fired over.

Enraged isnt the word mate i was fuming as there was nothing in it .......
did we deserve to win ? YES . Thought the two new young lads did really well saying it was their game for us . The lad up front Daniel ? was all over the place as in chacing down , battling you name it he did it . He will be a right menace in the oppositions defences . The right back again did really well looks strong and battled well , Tom Marshall kept praising him all game which was great to see and hear. I dont really want to have a go at the ref but he couldnt wait to book Dillon in the second half ....
A well earned three points ....

I agree, both the two new lads did really well.
I wasn’t expecting too much from Daniel Odunaiya as stepping up from Step 5 to Step 3 is a big jump but as Kev says he really made an impression. The shot that hit the post was worth a goal. He did well to even get a shot away and you can’t get closer to scoring. Very encouraging debut.
Defender Jay Abudu also gave a very competent performance. He’s only 19 but looks a real prospect.
