The clashes between the relegation threatened teams could decide who gets relegated
Leek (12th) have to play 5 relegation rivals (2 home, 3 away)
Morpeth (A), Stocksbridge (A), Prescot (H), Whitby (H) Workington (A)
Ilkeston (14th) have to play 3 relegation rivals (all 3 away):
Prescot (A),Rushall (A), Stocksbridge (A)
Rushall (15th) have to play 5 relegation rivals (3 home, 2 away):
Workington (A), Whitby (H), Prescot (A), Ilkeston (H), Morpeth (H)
Prescot (16th) have to play 5 relegation rivals (2 home, 3 away)
Stocksbridge (A), Hyde (A), Rushall (H), Ilkeston (H), Leek (A)
Whitby(17th) have to play 4 relegation rivals (1 home, 3 away)
Rushall (A), Morpeth (A), Hyde (H), Leek (A)
Hyde (18th) have to play 4 relegation rivals (2 home, 2 away)
Prescot, (H), Morpeth (A) Workington (H), Whitby (A)
Morpeth (19th) have to play 6 relegation rivals (3 home, 3 away)
Workington (A), Stocksbridge (A), Hyde (H), Leek (H), Whitby (H), Rushall( A)
Stocksbridge (20th) have to play 5 relegation rivals (4 home, 1 away)
Prescot (H), Morpeth (H), Workington (A),Leek (H), Ilkeston (H)
Workington (21st) have to play 5 relegation rivals (4 home, 1 away)
Morpeth (H), Rushall (H), Stocksbridge (H), Hyde (A), Leek (H)
So Morpeth with the most matches against relegation rivals (6) have avoiding relegation in their own hands
The most endangered clubs (Stocksbridge and Workington) have 4 of their 5 matches against relegation rivals at home
Ilkeston have the least matches against relegation rivals indicating that most of their remaining fixtures are against top half of the table teams.

The FootballWebPages website suggests in their predicted final table that Ilkeston will finish fourteenth. They also predict that forty points will be enough to avoid relegation meaning the Robins will only need another two wins to be safe! Mmm if only!

I'm going 46 points and you will be safe.

Our win against Guiseley combined with Morpeth’s defeat gives us a healthy nine point cushion although Morpeth currently in the final relegation position have two games in hand.
Workington, Stocksbridge and Morpeth are now looking favourites for the drop after Hyde United’s astonishing win against Hednesford.
Morpeth play at Workington next Saturday and both sides desperately need the 3 points to keep their survival hopes alive. The other team in the bottom three, Stocksbridge Park Steels are home to Prescot Cables and anything but a win will leave Steels survival hopes teetering on the edge.

The mood at Morpeth Town is very downbeat at the moment. The manager Craig Lynch was apologising to the fans on Saturday. I feel they appear doomed! To be fair they have had some good results this including an early season win over Hednesford. I can't help feeling the players are losing the fight!
Its a shame really as they are my closest step three club and other local clubs at step four have been struggling badly and at one point there were three Northumberland yeams in the bottom four of the Northern Premier League East Division. Heaton Stannington are the only Northumberland team that are doing themselves justice this season and they are really North Tyneside!

Another defeat for Whitby last night. Over the last nine matches they have picked up just 6 points, the worst in the league. Even Workington have picked up 8 points. Most people were thinking Whitby were in a false position because of their games in hand. They have 4 points more than Morpeth but that could be down to 1 point next Saturday if Morpeth win at bottom placed Workington and Whitby lose at Bamber Bridge.

Can Workington pull off the great escape?
At the end of January, Workington were 9 points adrift of safety.
A brilliant February month of results has seen them pick up 10 points from 4 matches, beating Ilkeston, Morpeth and Rushall and drawing at Gainsborough.
They are now only 3 points adrift.

Sat 7th March results affecting relegation
Ashton 0 Leek 1
Guiseley 1 Workington 1

All 3 of the “ *six pointers” : Hyde v Prescot and Stocksbridge v Morpeth and Rushall v Whitby ended in draws so for those 6 teams it’s “as you were” and a chance to climb the table was lost.
Leek picked up precious win and the Workington revival continued with a good point at Guiseley.

No team is safe. It could go down to the last Saturday
My guess is; Prescot, Stocksbridge and Hyde will be relegated

what a fantastic run from Workington ....Made our loss to them not so bad especially as they beat Hednesford 3-0 wow
Online!

So four of the bottom six lost their first Easter games
Stocksbridge (21st) lost 2-1 at Cleethorpes
Morpeth (20th) lost 3-0 at Lancaster
Prescot (19th) lost 3-0 at Hednesford
Rushall (17th( lost 2-1 at Ashton
That gives the other two Hyde and Workington an opportunity to improve their position today (Easter Saturday) Hyde play at Guiseley and Workington play at Rylands.

I'm thinking one more victory or 2 draws from the remaining games and we will be safe.

Who gets relegated is still undecided.
Maybe Easter Monday’s matches will give hope to one of the threatened teams
16th WorkingtonAFC (39pts) are at home to Cleethorpes
17th Rushall Olympiic (38pts) are at home to Ilkeston
18th. Hyde United (37 pts) are at home to Ashton Utd
19th Prescot Cables(36pts) have no match
20th Morpeth Town (36pts) are at home to Whitby
21st Stocksbridge P S (35pts) are at home to Leek
It feels like "last chance saloon" for Stocksbridge and Morpeth. Realistically, they have to win their matches.
Prescot with no game could be bottom at 5pm.
Ashton and Hyde are big rivals so I don't think Ashton will be doing Hyde any favours.
Despite Workington's amazing revival, they're still in danger and they probably have the toughest game against in-form Cleethorpes who are unbeaten in eight matches.
Really hoping Ilkeston can beat Rushall.
And at the top it’s:
FC United (68pts) v Hednesford (67pts)
Hebburn (67pts) v Stockton (58pts)

How funny would it be if hebburn won the league

I think most people would like to see Hednesford miss out on winning the league.......... then lose in the playoffs.

Easter Monday’s results leave Stocksbridge and Prescot in deep water. Those two must now be favourites for the drop. Who joins them is still wide open after wins for Morpeth, Hyde and Rushall and a draw for Workington.
Whitby’s defeat at Morpeth means they are now well and truly in the mix. Whitby have lost 5 of their last 6 matches and play Hyde in a six pointer next Saturday

Defeats against Bamber Bridge, Stocksbridge and FC United could see us slip down the table but with 3 matches left :
Morpeth need 7 points to go above us
Hyde and Workington need 6 points to go above us
Whitby and Rushall need 5 points to go above us
Morpeth have to play: Hednesford (A), Rushall (A), Warrington Town (H),
Hyde have to play: Whitby (A), FC United (A), Gainsborough (H).
Workington have to play: Ashton (A), Warrington Town (A), Leek (H)
Whitby have to play: Hyde (H), Leek (A), Cleethorpes (H)
Rushall have to play: Stockton (A), Morpeth (H), Hebburn (A)

I think we will be safe on Saturday even if we lose to Bamber Bridge, because Morpeth are likely to lose at Hednesford and Rushall are likely to lose at Stockton.

NPL’s take on the battle to avoid relegation
State of play | NPL Premier Division relegation battle
09 Apr 2026 by News Desk
As we head into the final three weeks of the campaign, no side in the Northern Premier League’s top division has been relegated. This highlights how tight the fight to stay at Step 3 has been all year. Throughout 2026, there have been mini-revivals at numerous clubs that many felt were dead and buried. At the turn of the year, Workington were nine points adrift of safety; now safety is in their own hands. Similarly, Hyde United had won just one in 20 and had just been beaten by Workington on March 21. It looked like the writing was on the wall for the Tigers, before they picked up seven points out of the last nine available to remain above the drop. Morpeth Town had gone seven without a win before their current run of three wins in five, and Rushall Olympic had gone winless in eight before a massive Easter Monday win over Ilkeston Town. Teams are hitting form at just the right time, and it’s difficult to pick out the three sides who will ultimately succumb to relegation come the end of the month. With six points separating 15th from 21st and just three games remaining for all seven sides, here’s how the run-in looks for each of the current relegation contenders.
21st: Stocksbridge Park Steels
Points: 35 Goal difference: -24
Propping up the table currently are Stocksbridge Park Steels, who could have their fate sealed as early as this weekend. Last season’s East Division play-off winners have been in touch with getting out of the drop zone all year, but every time they got close, results elsewhere or a poor run of form saw them cut further adrift. This was amplified this past weekend, when their one-point gap was opened up to five, and defeat away at promotion contenders Warrington Rylands this Saturday could see them down, if other results don’t go their way. After that, they take on Ilkeston Town in their final home game of the campaign, before travelling to Lancaster City on the final day, and Jordan Lemon will be hoping that those two sides have nothing to play for then, to enable them to try and mount a great escape.

Stocksbridge are now relegated and its two from Morpeth, Prescot and Whitby to join them.
Morpeth Prescot and Whitby are all at home for their final match.
Whitby need just a point from their match against Cleethorpes to be safe.
If Whitby lose and Prescot win against Bamber Bridge then Whitby will go down.
Morpeth’s chances of survival are slim . They need to beat Warrington Town and Whitby to lose and Prescot not to win and they must also turn round an inferior six goal difference,
Whitby P39 Pts 42. GD -12
Prescot P39. Pts 39. GD -12
Morpeth. P39 Pts 39. GD -18
