Team of the Month Awards

These are the monthly winners in our league Division one

August  2017         :  Walsall Wood
September  2017 :   Heather St John
October 2017 :         Studley
November 2017  :    Racing Club Warwick
December  2017 :    Littleton
January  2018   :      Walsall Wood
February    2018  :    Racing Club Warwick

In case you're thinking Ilkeston won every game from 14th October through to 9th January but still didn't get voted team of the month for November or December.

Racing Club also won all of their November games so no complaints there.

Littleton played 5 games in December and won all five whereas we only played one due to postponements.

Well done to all the monthly winners !

Re: Team of the Month Awards

The months of December, January and February were all weather affected months meaning that March and April would include many re-arranged fixtures. Unfortunately the first two weeks of March have also been weather affected with the outcome being that April will now have an unprecedented number of matches. The monthly award winner for April will then almost certainly be the Champions. Every team has been affected by the numerous postponements but some more so than others. Unless the season is extended, which is unlikely, nearly all teams are faced with having to play up to three three midweek games in the same week in order to complete their fixtures. Unfortunately Racing Club Warwick who may have been in with a chance of promotion, are caught up in this fixture packed end to the season and because they have the biggest backlog, their remaining results are likely to be affected. Walsall Wood have always been favourites for the single promotion spot. As things stand they have a good spread of remaining fixtures with just two weeks when they have to play two midweek games within the same week. However their League Cup quarter final match against R C Warwick was postponed last night so that will mean at least one other week with two midweek games and if they win the quarter final there will be a semi final to pull in. They now have 43 days in which to play their remaining 15 league matches plus at least one league cup game.
If Walsall Wood were to drop points in this congested period and one of the promotion challengers (Racing Club, Leicester Road, Ilkeston, Atherstone or Hinckley) were able to pick up maximum points by putting together a sustained winning run then maybe the promotion spot can be stolen at the death.
R C Warwick would need Wallsall wood to drop at least 10 points, Hinckley would need Walsall Wood to drop at least 11 points and Ilkeston would need Walsall Wood to drop at least 14 points. Although probably unlikely, there is the possibility of Walsall dropping enough points to make it a close finish.
Walsall Wood's remaining fixtures include matches against the following teams who could take points off them : Nuneaton Griff (home), Heather St Johns (away), Littleton (away), Studley (away), RC Warwick (home), Ilkeston (home).
Walsall are clear favourites but it's never over until it's over.
