Ilkeston are twelth in the table. Leek Town's game against Warrington Rylands had an incredible 26' off addrd time. Was that a mistake or is it a record?

we didnt really look like scoring today , i thought their back four dominated the game and keptus at bay most of the time . We didnt get many headers up front as usual . But to be fair they werent that good but i thought Hebburn were better , that was a cracking game . This was fairly dull compared to that game .

After beating 2nd in the table Hebburn, Ilkeston faced another promotion chasing side, Stockton Town, but they couldn’t repeat the performance or result. The game was decided by an unfortunate own goal in an even first half. The second half didn’t live up to the first as Stockton defended their lead and Ilkeston couldn’t create enough opportunities.

The first chance fell to Stockton and Alfie Roberts did well to save a Stephen Thompson header. Ilkeston’s first chance came from a ball forward for Daniel Odunaiya to chase. Stockton keeper Nathan Harker came a long way out of his goal and didn’t connect properly but fortunately for him the ball the ball ran safe. Joshua Scott had a header saved by Roberts, then Ilkeston had a penalty shout when Sam Parker appeared to be pulled down going for a far post header. There followed a good Ilkeston spell when Taylor Anderson saw a shot blocked and Harvey Kirby-Moore’s effort was saved. Stockton then had a lucky escape when Harker didn’t collect the ball cleanly. But on 35 minutes the visitors went ahead in fortunate circumstances when Joshua Scott’s effort found the net after hitting defender Tom Marshall and deflecting over the line. The goal took the sting out of Ilkeston and Stockton saw out the remainder of the first half.

Ilkeston made three half time changes but Stockton’s defence marshalled by skipper Adam Nicholson were resolute. Stockton’s Stephen Thompson was so unlucky not to score when his precisely judged lob over Roberts hit the post. And that was the nearest thing to a goal in the second half until 15 minutes from time when a Robbie Fox header created a goal mouth scramble. Soon after, a cross towards the run of the excellent Jay Abudu at the far post was just beyond his reach. Ilkeston tried to find a leveller but Stockton defended well and an equaliser always seemed unlikely.

In the second half Essien was having a right go, at Tom Marshall, he wasn’t having any of Toms “opinion”didn’t seem there was any love lost there, maybe there’s not the unity in the team as Deaks professes

Got to admit Stockton are a strong and resolute side. Once ahead they know how to defend a lead. They just stopped us playing and we ran out of ideas. What a difference from the game against Hebburn where both teams had a go at trying to score.
