Ilkeston Town are thirteenth with five games to play eight points ahead of Prescot Cables with a game in hand! The Robins needed these three points as all the inform teams appear to be those at the bottom of the table.

PRESCOT PAY THE PRICE AS THEY ARE OUTFOXED

Ilkeston Town came from behind with a goal from Jay Abudu and a penalty from substitute Robbie Fox to secure three crucial points in their bid to avoid relegation.
Prescot started the game well and looked the stronger outfit as they put Ilkeston under pressure. It was therefore no surprise when Deans put the home side ahead after thirteen minutes. The Robins tried to regroup but Prescot continued to look the more likely team with Abudu having to clear off the line after twenty minutes. As news came through that others teams near the drop zone were winning Ilkeston got their break when Abudu forced the ball home after thirty eight minutes to equalise.
After the break Ilkeston looked to be more competitive and following two substitutions they started to dominate the game. Four minutes from time Ilkeston got their reward when Kirby-Moore was fouled in the box and fellow substitute Fox converted the spot kick. Despite some late pressure from the hosts Ilkeston held out comfortably to secure three valuable points.
Ilkeston stayed on thirteenth place but have a game in hand over Prescot Cables in nineteenth place and are eight points clear with five games to play.

Big 3 points that. 8 clear of the bottom 3 now with 5 games left (6 for the bottom 2). Probably safe now, but one more win will do it. We didn't deserve to lose at Whitby and Workington so I hoped it was our turn to sneak a win. Fully deserved win today for me.
They scored a screamer from 20 yards, but apart from that, they rarely threatened. We showed some real quality at times and created some good chances. Our lads always put a shift in, and again today we worked really hard all over the pitch, typified by Essien, who was MoM for me.
Game was stopped about 10 mins from the end when a Prescot fan aimed racial abuse at Sam Essien. Sam went ballistic and it must have taken 10 mins for our players and managers to calm him down. Looked like our team were going to leave the pitch at one point. The fan was ejected. Excellent crowd, 732, just takes one idiot to sour things.

Obviously I wasn’t at the game so didn’t realise what happened .
I just listened to Ian Deakin’s post match interview. He was rightly fuming.
I just want to say Sam Essien is one of our best players. He’s brilliant every game and every one of our supporters loves Sam.

The incident involving the abuse of Sam Essien is very bad news on a very bad day for Prescot! They could find themselves relegated complete with an unwanted reputation due to one racist moron!
