Re: Player movements

That’s seven players so far who have chosen to leave:
Jamie Walker
Robbie Fox
Sam Essien
Matt Thornhill
Sam Parker
Tom Marshall
Alfie Roberts

It really is going to be a fresh start and hopefully we can attract some decent replacements.

Since our relegation in April 2017 we’ve enjoyed successful seasons chasing promotions.
Last season was the first season since then that we lost more matches than we won but we still finished mid table.
But let’s try to stay positive. The 2026-27 season may different after so many personnel changes but it’s still our team and we must Trust in Trist

Re: Player movements

I think Donald is my next to go mainly by because he won't have to show the players where to park.lol

Re: Player movements

Those going to lower level teams, Carlton, Matlock , Basford yet to show their hand are not going for the football so if they e gone of their own accord it’s got to be for the 💷💵, let’s see where Minks ends up.

As for Donald, if the general budget has been he’s maybe got a big decision to make.

Last year our budget was in the top 8 of the league, maybe not so this year so cloth has to be cut.

So are we looking at teams level 2/3 who had will have smaller budgets than us or teams below level 4 (you would assume all have lower (Matlock excluded) to recruit.

Re: Player movements

Dont know about you guys but i have never seen this before an almost total walk out by the players ..... tbh i would expect four maybe five but what is now TEN ? This to me very worrying as the new management have got to find at least seven good enough players and to  me thats a VERY tall order .  Yes i know it`s early days but them early days go fast then you in the situation where players have signed up already for other teams .
Do i need to be this worried ????????

Re: Player movements

As I have previously said 2 of 3 the that’s staying i wouldn’t have wanted to keep and you definitely can’t build a team around them

You are entitled to your opinion silverfoxx and I won’t ask you to name the two you dislike
But in my opinion all three are worth keeping because they’ve played at our level and above.

I don’t know if it’s common knowledge but Danny Draper is back as head of Ilkeston's media team after spending a year at Basford. I had a chat with Danny this morning and he did a lot to convince me that my fears of us having a weakened team next season could be unfounded. Apparently besides Daniel, Brandy and Stevens some other players agreed to sign after training last night. Clubs can’t actually register new players until 1st June unless they’re on a contract. Whilst we are not exactly throwing silly money about, Tristram and Aaron are determined to bring in a mix of decent young and experienced players.

Jason Cowley scored 31 goals last season. Don’t think we could afford him.

Re: Player movements

Apparently last season's playing budget was £4000 a week. Alot of our players and ex players dropping down a step for more money. Iam not complaining regarding budget matlock a Prime example that a bigger budget doesn't guarantee success. Deaks should get more credit for the job he did last season if the Ambition is the remain in the division when compering budgets. If our players are earning £200 a week it will be difficult to keep them.

Worst post? Iam honoured.
Not so much fiction in the Post.
Only Stating what our Previous manager told myself and others at Stocksbridge.

Re: Player movements

.

Chuckle "Apparently last season's playing budget was £4000 a week".
Alex "Now this is the worst post I have seen on WHiteball in years.

Alex - You may be privy to the wages that were being paid when Deaks was in charge but the likes of Chuckle and myself could only go on what we heard (which came from Deaks) .

Chuckle "Deaks should get more credit for the job he did last season”
Opinion is divided on the teams performances under Deaks.  For all the criticism Deaks has received from some quarters, his players are incredibly loyal to him as was shown when he came to Ilkeston from Long Eaton and now by the mass exodus of players after his departure.

The plan this season is to see if we can put together a competitive team of young and hungry players on moderate wages along with some experienced players at the going rate. It’s not going to be easy and we’re about to find out if it’s possible. The Northern Prem is sure to be a tough league for young players to come into and do well.
This new approach is a gamble and we may struggle to achieve mid-table safety in the coming season but it could pay off in the long run and give us a secure future. It may be tough to start with, but nearly all of last season’s players have gone now so the immediate future of the team is in the hands of Tristram and Aaron.
This is our club so let’s be positive and get behind Andy Nally, Mark Frost, Tristram Whitman and Aaron Large.

Re: Player movements

Apparently you cannot sign players on contracts til the June 1st so plenty of time to announce next seasons squad. If you announce them earlier you risk players being poached with better offers before June 1st.
I fined it incredible that some fans thought after Deaks went his loyal players would stay at Ilkeston. It also seems odd that the same fans who were calling for a change of management are now whinging about him going. It may be like a break up with your girlfriend when you start thinking how good it was before you fancied a change.
i liked Deaks but when the club has made the decision to end it you after get behind the club ans support the new management team. I think what will make a difference is when the new media find their feet and get the communication back on track.

Re: Player movements

Just me, from miles away... but, for some posting here, it's just maybe about time to read the room? Clearly, it's all change... So I'm thinking, a new start for the Club - and long live the new king(s)... But equally, and hopefully, I think some supporter positivity is maybe needed... Players may read this...!

I'm thinking, let's try to show a bit more positivity, please... so the team starts off not reflecting past times...And yes, there have been some great teams - and players from 'no-where' we still remember.... It can happen!

That all said... I'm also thinking, maybe (please) not to ask me again at Xmas 2026!

Re: Player movements

Montel Gibson has left Hednesford after verbally agreeing to stay.

Hednesford are going full time ( in the NLN ?) next year, maybe a proper job and security pays better than football.
