Emley came up via the playoffs after finishing 3rd in the NPL East division

Emley conceded only 15 goals at home and they conceded the fewest goals in the league over the season.

This is Emley's first home game and they wiill be keen to start well in front of their own supporters

Emley will be tough to score against so a 0-0 draw may be a good result.

Emley drew their opening game at Hyde United and will be keen to build on that good start.
Ilkeston will be buoyed by their opening day victory over Stockton and will travel to Emley with unanticipated confidence. But it won't be easy. It will be completely different. This time Emley will have the crowd behind them. But we wont be without support. If you enjoyed Saturday why not get on our Supporters Group bus to Emley and experience our away day travel. You’ll be hooked.

Our players will be keen to show that Saturday’s performance was no flash in the pan. Against Stockton was the first time that the starting eleven had played together as a team. They took a bit of time to settle but then they proved they can cut it at this level. Even had they lost I would have been happy with the performance, and they’re going to get better.
So we go Emley with confidence. Another performance like Saturday's will surely see us return with at least a point.

Who are we?
Emley currently play in the Pitching-in Northern Premier League Premier Division (NPL). This is a Step 3 league in the National League System (Step 1 is the National League). A regionalised league, we play teams across the North of England and the North Midlands. At the end of the season the champions are promoted to step 2, the National League North/South, and the next four placed teams can also be promoted through a play-off system. Each season we enter the FA Cup, FA Trophy and the Sheffield and Hallamshire Senior Challenge Cup. As well as our first team, we have an Under 23's side in the West Riding County FA Development League. We also have an Under 18s team who enter FA Youth Cup and play in the Junior Premier League.

The Fantastic Media Welfare Ground is our home which we share with the village cricket team.
To find the club,
Once in Emley, you're looking for the distinct white cross on the T junction of the two main roads in and out of the village. There is a tight entrance directly opposite - any car or 4x4 should get through but mini-buses and bigger vehicles will need to take great care. Coaches are best parking on the main road and everyone walking up the lane on foot. Turn left at the end of this short lane to access the car park.
The car park is free.If the car park is full and/or you end up parking in the village, please be respectful to our neighbours when parking your vehicle.

Gate opening times
For first team games, spectators can enter the ground when turnstiles open at 1pm (6pm midweek).
Tickets and programmes
Tickets are always on sale on the gate and you can pay by cash or card. We now accept card/contactless payment across the club. Entry fees change slightly depending on the competition (competition rules often dictate a minimum price for each round) but we are always affordable.
Standard admission prices for 2026/27 are £12, concessions £10, ages 12-16 £1, ages 5-11 £1, Under 5s are free but must be accompanied by an adult. Concession rate applies those in full-time education (student ID must be shown) and those in receipt of the state pension. The price is the same regardless of whether or wherever you would like to stand or sit.
Programmes cost £2 in season 2026/27.
Our Academy teams also play some of their home fixtures at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground, mainly on Monday evenings. Entry is only £2 per person (Under 13s free with an adult) and is free to club members (except some cup games). Under 18s matches are free.
Around the ground
On entry through the turnstile, the building on your left houses the changing rooms and sports bar. The Sports Bar has a reasonable amount of seating and serves alcohol and soft drinks, crisps and chocolate. There are also male and female toilets (Lads and Wags!). Our range of merchandise, souvenirs and club clothing is on display in the bar - to buy or see the full range visit the Pewit Bar (see below) or shop online at our club web shop.
The main stand has toilets to the rear - including disabled. On the far end of the stand, behind the dug-outs, is the Dugout Diner serving hot food and hot or cold drinks. Behind the away dugout is the Pewit Bar. A container with a serving hatch, you can buy cans of alcohol or soft drinks as well as snacks and hot drinks. Our full range of club merchandise is also on display and can be purchased here. We don't hold huge stocks of clothing/kit so you may need to place an order for delivery or collection at a future home game.We are working to make as many areas as possible of the club accessible to wheelchair users. We have a small number of car parking spaces close to the club entrance. If possible, please contact us so we can reserve you a space if required. Unisex disabled toilets have recently been upgraded and these are adjacent to the ladies toilets at the back of the main stand.Footballs and other balls are not permitted in spectator areas. Please leave them at home.
Dogs
We welcome well-behaved dogs to the ground but they must be on a lead at all times. They must not be taken onto the cricket field and are not allowed in the Sports Bar.
Except for the home friendlies versus Huddersfield Town and Barnsley FC. Assistance Dogs only, due to the high volume of attendees.

Emley AFC manager Richard Tracey reflects on the summer transfer business and looks ahead to the new season.
After one of the most memorable campaigns in the club's recent history, Emley AFC are preparing to write the next chapter as they embark on life in the Northern Premier League - Premier Division.Promotion to Step 3 was secured ahead of schedule, with Richard Tracey's side achieving a five year ambition in just two seasons. Now, with a blend of proven performers and exciting new additions, the Pewits head into the 2026/27 campaign determined to establish themselves against some of non-league football's biggest names.

Emley open their Premier Division campaign away at Hyde United on Saturday before welcoming Ilkeston Town and Curzon Ashton to the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground in the opening week of the season. For Tracey, preparations for a new campaign began almost immediately after promotion was secured. He said: "We wrote to all the players with an offer within a couple of days of last season finishing. We wanted to deal with everything professionally and give them the opportunity to return because they were the players who earned promotion. The conversations were overwhelmingly positive. Kurtis Turner was the only player who decided not to accept the offer. He was very honest with us and explained that, at this stage of his career, he wanted to play more locally and alongside some of his friends."Kurtis still had another year on his contract, but because he had been straightforward with us, we agreed to release him. He played an important part in helping us win promotion and left with our best wishes."That continuity means the spine of the squad remains intact, with captain Jack Cowgill, Charlie Barks, Isaac Baldwin, Ellis Farrar, Ross Hardaker, Joe Clegg, Hayden Lindley, Joe Stacey, Harry Sheppeard, Bailey Thompson, Gabriel Johnson and Laurence Sorhaindoall retained.

Tracey continued: "We are really pleased to have retained the backbone of the side. Jack, Ellis and Barksy were central to an excellent defensive record last season, and we know the quality they possess. We kept two clean sheets against a Redcar side that scored more than 120 goals, so that shows the defensive ability within the group. We are very fortunate to have those players committed to Emley, with Jack also contracted for another two years."We have also retained important attacking players such as Bailey Thompson, Gabriel Johnson and Laurence Sorhaindo. With the new players who have joined us, there is now genuine competition for places throughout the forward areas."The players who got us promoted deserved the opportunity to step up with us. At the same time, everybody understands that there are only 16 places available in a matchday squad, so performances and standards will determine who earns those shirts."While rewarding the promotion winning squad was a priority, Tracey also knew strengthening would be essential ahead of the club's first season at Step 3.

He continued: "Although the players who earned promotion deserved the opportunity to return, we weren't naive enough to think we didn't need to strengthen in certain areas. We worked quickly during the summer and managed to complete the vast majority of our business quite early.” Among the new arrivals is goalkeeper Ben Bottomley, who impressed whenever Emley faced North Ferriby: "Recruiting a goalkeeper was an important part of that work," Tracey explained."We identified Botts early because he has been excellent against us during the past couple of seasons with North Ferriby. We believe we have signed a very good young goalkeeper who will continue to improve, and the fact he is based relatively locally is another positive for us."Former Pewit Adam Porritt has returned to the club, while Jamie Spencer arrived from Guiseley to strengthen the midfield: "Adam Porritt brings experience and versatility across several positions," Tracey said."He has worked incredibly hard following his operation and is now looking to get back playing regularly. He has had previous spells with Emley, so he knows the club, and he is a very welcome addition to the squad."Versatility has been another key theme of Emley's recruitment. Aaron Haswell's ability to play across midfield and attack gives the manager plenty of options: "Aaron Haswell became available at a time when we were looking to create more competition in the wide areas," Tracey said."He is a very technical and versatile player who can operate on the left, as a right winger, as a number 10 or in central midfield. We have been really impressed with him during pre-season and believe his versatility will be particularly valuable at this level.

"Alex Kiwomya's arrival also adds another dimension: "Alex Kiwomya gives us something we were missing last season in terms of raw, explosive pace. He also has plenty of experience, having come through Chelsea's academy and represented England at youth level. He scored 10 goals for a team that reached the step three play-offs last season. He had opportunities closer to Manchester, but he wanted to move nearer to home because of work commitments. We moved quickly to complete the deal and are delighted to have him with us."Experienced striker Diego De Girolamo brings proven goalscoring pedigree after successful spells higher up the non-league pyramid. Richard explained his arrival: "Diego De Girolamo is a clever and experienced striker who has previously been a leading goalscorer at this level. He has a strong reputation in non-league football, has fitted into the group extremely well and gives us another player with real quality in the attacking areas.

"Rinor Ejupi, Carlos Rodriguez, James Murray and Jacob Jessop complete the summer additions. "Rinor has been a standout performer for Garforth and was at the stage where he wanted to test himself at step three. He will give us a greater attacking threat on the right hand side and create strong competition with Harry Sheppeard. That competition is going to be important. We need players pushing one another throughout the season because that is what will drive standards and help us continue to improve. Carlos has also rejoined us and is somebody we want to continue developing. We have brought in James Murray, a tidy young central midfielder who has featured throughout pre-season, and Jacob Jessop, a young right back who has recently left Sheffield Wednesday. They are young players who can add to the squad, gain experience of men's football and hopefully develop alongside us."

Despite an encouraging summer, pre-season has also brought disappointment. Jamie Spencer and vice-captain Chris Dawson have both sustained significant knee injuries. "The major disappointment of pre-season has been losing Jamie Spencer and Chris Dawson to serious knee injuries. To lose two players of that quality is a huge blow. Jamie joined us from a higher level, while Chris was our Manager's Player of the Season last year. We'll see how things progress with them both.”Jamie Spencer at this time has decided to retire from playing football. We will keep the door open for Jamie if he wishes to rejoin us after his recovery is complete. The club thanks Jamie for his time during pre-season and of course that fantastic goal during the Rotherham United game. Those setbacks have added to what has already been a disrupted pre-season: "From a staff perspective, there isn't really an off-season," Tracey said: "As soon as the previous campaign finishes, recruitment begins and players start wanting to have conversations with you.

Pre-season has been disrupted by holidays, injuries and player availability. We haven't yet been able to field our established defensive three together. Despite those challenges, there has been good competition within the squad. We are slightly light in central midfield following the injuries to Chris and Jamie. We aren't panicking and we won't make a signing for the sake of it. Football can change significantly during the opening weeks of a season as players become available, so we will keep our ear to the ground and wait for the right opportunity.

"With fixtures against Hyde United, Ilkeston Town and Curzon Ashton to begin life in the Premier Division, Tracey is excited by what lies ahead: "We feel that Emley's name belongs alongside clubs such as Hyde, Curzon Ashton and FC United. Our first objective is to be competitive, establish ourselves at step three and show that we are capable of winning plenty of football matches. The minimum target is to finish above the relegation places and establish ourselves. At the other end of the scale, we would love to be knocking on the door of the play-offs and seeing how far we can go. Anywhere between those two positions would represent a satisfactory first season at step three. Anything beyond that would be phenomenal."Looking ahead to Saturday's opener at Hyde, he added: "It will be a challenging opening game, but it is one we are looking forward to. The players have earned the opportunity to compete at this level and can go there, express themselves and show what they are capable of.

It would be fantastic to start the season by putting three points on the board."And with two home fixtures following in quick succession, Tracey hopes supporters will once again play their part: "My message to the supporters is simply to get behind the players," he said: "We are trying to establish Emley at a higher level and that will take time. We hope the supporters understand the size of the challenge, stay with the players and continue giving us the fantastic backing they provided last season. Hopefully, we can repay that faith with some strong performances and plenty of victories.”

Home opener as we host NPL Premier Division for the first time in 26 years!

For the first time in 26 years, the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground will play host to Northern Premier league Premier Division football when Ilkeston Town visit in the opening home game of the 2026/27 season on Tuesday 11th August (7.45pm),
Bishop Auckland were the visitors on the 26th April 2000 for the last NPL Premier game at the ground before the ill fated move to Wakefield, and there have been plenty of ups and downs in that time, but now, we look ahead and a first meeting with an Ilkeston team in 41 years.
An Ilkeston side last visited Emley in November 1985 in a 3-2 win for the Pewits over the Robins in the NPL Premier, with a double from Emley legend, John Francis, Francis also scored twice in the last game between Emley and Ilkeston, a 3-1 FA Cup Preliminary tie win in August 1986, he's also a regular visitor and hopefully he will see someone equal or better his two goal haul on Tuesday 11th.

Following Emley's 3rd promotion in 7 years under Richard Tracey, this season will see some unfamiliar and some familiar opponents to long standing Emley fans, this is Ilkeston's 4th season at this level after making their way back up the pyramid following two reformations between 2010 and 2017. Emley have never previously met the current Ilkeston Town or its predecessor, Ilkeston FC.

Ilkeston picked up an opening day 1-0 win over Stockton Town with a very late winner whilst a 0-0 draw at Hyde on Saturday meant Emley return home with a point and will be looking to pick up more with 2 home games this week.
WHO ARE THEY?
Ilkeston Town have a chequered recent history, the current club were formed in 2017 following the demise of the original Ilkeston Town club (1945-2010), and then a phoenix club, Ilkeston FC (2010-2017), the original club folded in 2010 when they were as high as the Conference North (step 2), The first phoenix club resumed in the NPL D1 South and won promotion to the NPL Premier before they too were forced to fold with the club next to bottom of the table.And so the 3rd version of the club this century started out back in 2017 in Division 1 of the Midland League, 3 promotions then followed that saw them up to step 3 and The Robins were then moved laterally from the Southern Premier Central to the Northern Premier Premier where they have finished 11th, 6th and 11th.All versions of the club have and still do play at New Manor Park and the original (1945) club twice made it to the 2nd round of the FA Cup, losing out to Scunthorpe United in a replay (1997-98) and two years later to Rushden & Diamonds, also after a replay.

Emley's rise to the NPL Premier Division, which stands at step 3 of the non league system and level 8 in the entire English system has been remarkable, winning the Northern Counties East League and then missing out on a second successive promotion after losing the the NPL D1 East play off semi finals, but last season we went one better, defeating local rivals Bradford (Park Avenue) on penalties in the play off final, we had previously risen from NCEL D1 following 2 year interrupted seasons due to covid and were promoted on a points per game (PPG) basis.

Could this be the start of yet another memorable season for the Pewits?

By road:

From M1 Junction 38. Travel on road sign posted to Huddersfield through the village of Bretton to the first roundabout. Take first exit off this roundabout signposted Denby Dale. After approximately one mile turn right at road signposted Emley. After 2 miles, enter the village of Emley. Entrance to ground is opposite a white bollard in centre of road. (Narrow entrance)

From M1 Junction 39. Travel on road signposted toward Denby Dale. Travel for approximately 3 miles up hill to first roundabout. Take second exit and follow directions as above.

It’s MATCH DAY 2 and how can we possibly replicate the joy that followed the first game when we just didn’t know what to expect and grabbed a late winner..
We’ve not suddenly become playoff candidates but a season of consolidation now looks to be achievable.
We now have two away games starting with newly promoted Emley.
It’s Emley’s first season at Step 3 and like us they will be wanting to consolidate.
Emley didn’t concede many goals last season and they started this season with a 0-0.
So it doesn’t look like a high scoring game but you never know.

Looking ahead, a win tonight and a win at Whitby would replicate the three win start under Gary Hayward in the 2023-24 season when we beat Marske away then Gainsborough and Workington at home.

There are some big fixtures on the way on Tuesday night in the NPL Premier Division, with a full round of midweek action to enjoy.
One of the more eye-catching fixtures comes in the north-east, where last season's play-off semi-finalists Stockton Town host an Ashton United side that find themselves top of the table after Matchday 1.

Stockton will be keen to get off the mark on Tuesday night, having conceded a 96th minute winner away at Ilkeston Town on the opening weekend. As for Ashton, they will hope to build on an impressive 4-1 win over Lancaster City on Saturday afternoon.

The aforementioned Lancaster are at home on Tuesday night to a Warrington Rylands side that claimed one of the results of the opening weekend in the NPL.. Neil Reynolds' Blues scored three without reply at home to FC United of Manchester, one of the pre-season favourites to challenge for the title.

For FC United, a return to Broadhurst Park beckons as they host Leek Town. Their match-up is the only one of the 11 midweek games which will be contested between two sides beaten on the opening day of the season in the NPL Premier Division.

Third-placed Cleethorpes Town will make the trip to Quorn, meanwhile, in what will be the Reds' first-ever home game in the division. While Cleethorpes were 2-0 winners at home to Bamber Bridge on the opening weekend, Quorn let slip a one-goal lead away at newly-promoted Avro as a pair of second-half goals saw the Ro clinch all three points on their Step 3 debut. Fresh from that win, Grant Shenton's side will travel to Bamber Bridge for their first midweek action of the season, as they look to build on a strong record away from home last term which saw them lose just four of their 21 league games on the road.

Elsewhere, Warrington Town will hope to make it two wins from two at home to Hyde United, who played out a goalless draw with Emley on the opening day. Paul Carden's Yellows were impressive 2-1 winners at Guiseley on Saturday, in a game which saw two debutants in Ewan Bange and Alex McNally score their first goals for the club.

Guiseley, following on from that loss at Nethermoor, will look to make amends as they make the 85-mile trip to the Yorkshire Coast to face Whitby Town. Whitby enjoyed success on the opening weekend, coming from a goal down to secure three points on their travels at Leek Town.

Meanwhile, a huge night beckons at Salford Van Hire Gigg Lane as Bury play their first home game of the campaign against Greater Manchester neighbours Curzon Ashton. The Shakers' home form in the NPL West last season was the joint-best, with 15 wins, three draws and just three defeats accrued from their 21 games on home soil. Tuesday sees Anthony Johnson's side face a Curzon outfit buoyed by a 1-0 victory at home to Alfreton Town on the opening weekend.

Two of the other sides that picked up wins on Matchday 1, Gainsborough Trinity and Ilkeston Town, will hit the road on Tuesday night to face Alfreton and Emley respectively. Back at Step 3 after 25 years away, it promises to be a big night especially for Emley, who will be looking to build on Saturday's goalless draw with Hyde and continue riding the crest of a wave which has seen them win promotion twice in the last three seasons.

The final game of the midweek slate will see newly-promoted Redcar Athletic make the long trip west to Cumbria to face off against Workington. Tuesday's game will mark the start of a new era for Workington, who said goodbye to Borough Park in April, and will this season play at rugby league side Workington Town's Fibrus Community Stadium whilst work begins to construct the new 5,000-capacity Cumberland Sports Village in place of their former ground.
