Goals by Anthony Dwyer and Ashley Hunter gave Ilkeston a two goal lead but they had to survive a second half onslaught to preserve the win against newly promoted Emley.  
It was a lively start with the hosts finding the net after 5 minutes. But they had taken a quick free kick before the referee was ready and it was disallowed. Two minutes later Ilkeston were ahead when Anthony Dwyer took advantage of goalkeeper Ben Bottomley’s error and slotted the ball home. Back came Emley with winger Joe Stacey causing problems with his speedy runs. Most of Ilkeston’s attacks were starting from Hunter and it was Ash who put Ilkeston two up on 41 minutes . He was found by Dwyer and did really well to squeeze the ball past Bottomley and just inside the post. Emley retaliated immediately and Wilson produced a close range wonder save to keep it 2-0 at half time.  
Emley started the second half on the front foot and Wilson was soon in action pushing a Diego De Girolamo blast over the bar. Ilkeston then had a big chance to go three up but Dwyer’s effort was narrowly wide. On 56 minutes Emley pulled one back through Jack Cowgill. It looked like a foul on Wilson but the goal was allowed. Soon after it would have been 2-2 but for Wilson’s save from Gabby Johnson. Wilson then rescued Ilkeston again with an incredible save from a point blank header. De Girolamo fired just wide and Gabby Johnson’s effort was just too high as Emley increased the pressure. Gabby Johnson had Emley’s best chance when he beat Wilson to a through ball but having got past him he put the ball wide of the gaping goal.
