Full time. 1-1 It was Ilkeston pushing for the win. They couldn’t quite do it. but its a great point.
What a turnaround. In the first half Ashton's keeper could have gone for a cup of tea. He had nothing to save. But after the break we gradually got on top and after we equalised there was only one team going to win it.
After a quiet first half Ash Hunter became the main for Ilkeston.

A battling second half performance gave Ilkeston a creditable point at Ashton and ended a run of three defeats. Ashton dominated the first half and an Ilkeston comeback seemed unlikely but after Ash Hunter’s equaliser, Ilkeston were close to taking all three points.
Ashton started on the front foot with attacking fullback Mo Doro causing early problems. The first opening fell to Kurt Willoughby who fired just wide after cutting inside. Willoughby had another chance when he latched on to a through ball but Elwalid Elhaghany’s challenge forced him to shoot early and Sam Wilson made the save. The opening goal came on 42 minutes when Dan Turner headed in a cross from Al Byrne. Little was seen of Ilkeston as an attacking force.
Unlike the first half the second period was full of chances for both sides.There was an early chance for Ashton but Byrne couldn’t quite turn in a cross at the far post. For Ilkeston, Hunter got past two defenders but saw his shot saved by Tommy Taylor. Ashton went close when a shot rattled Wilson’s cross bar. Ilkeston went down the other end and Jevin Seaton’s header from Lynden Joyce’s cross was inches too high. Hunter was brought down in full flight and was just wide with the free kick. Hunter’s increasing influence finally brought an equaliser when he slammed home Seaton’s pass from close range. Colin Daniel’s turn and shot fizzed over the bar before Ashton replied with a Hardy effort glancing the top of the bar. With time running out Taylor saved Harry Wakefield’s shot with an outstretched foot then denied Hunter an added time winner.

What a game, we looked beaten half time. but gradually we turned things round and almost won it. Never saw Ash Hunter in the first half but second half he was superb. The first half was uninspiring from our point of view but we stopped Ashton from creating many chances. I don’t think Ashton’s keeper had anything to save. The second half was totally different with chance for both sides. Ashton clipped the bar twice but it was Ilkeston who finished the stronger with Ashton hanging on. Great second half performance by Hunter. Anthony Dwyer continues to be our best attacker and Jevin Seaton had better game, Pharrell and Elwalid both defended well. I didn’t expect anything from this match so I'm happy with a point and the result should give the players some confidence for the Bury match.

Our team was so different first half to second half I'm starting to wonder about alien abduction! Dire in the first half, long ball forward to two isolated forwards who can't hold it up and so the midfielders are still 30 yards behind them. But in the second half we actually had wide men, and played accurate and quick long balls (passes from Hunter and Adiefah spring to mind) to find the wide men in space and drive forward, and we were getting men in the opposition box. We were the team pressing for the winner, and could easily have knicked it. Having said that, we could have been 2 or 3 down before then, so perhaps a draw was a fair result. But definitely more encouraging and definitely the best half we've played this season. Thought Ash Hunter was terrific and really drove us forward and Pharrell Johnson was immense at the back. The management know we've got some players who just aren't good enough at this level and they'll address this. Better signs though.
