It's early doors... but a bit fast tracked in this league with the fixture list. Clearly now a poor start!
As Ilson should never lose. I'm thinking draw a game at minimum. Come on stats guy... would that do the trick? Point a game...?

It is difficult to stay positive as we are losing to some of the weaker teams rather than just the top teams. But a point a game means drawing all our games or winning a third of them. From what I have heard from those at the games any sort of points would be a tough ask. I get the impression that it is not the defeats that have upset fans but the nature of the performance and that must make the managements future less than secure. Maybe he can turn it round and maybe he has access to some better players. Lots of maybes but for most fans our reality is step four and more local derbies!

When it seemed things couldn’t get worse for Ilkeston….It did! Quorn came to the match without a win but deservedly took all 3 points after Samuel Lawrence-Lowther scored twice in the second half.
There was an early chance for Ilkeston when Terry Hawkridge saw Quorn keeper Jake Laban off his line but his shot from distance drifted wide. Quorn were creating the better chances and Lawrence-Lowther was close on two occasions before a Jevin Seaton header for Ilkeston was just wide. Sam Wilson made two excellent saves to keep Ilkeston level at the break.
But after the restart Quorn were soon ahead when Lawrence-Lowther fired past Wilson. Ilkeston had a great chance to level when Luis Parkes was through on goal but lifted his shot over the bar. Finlay Tunstall was inches wide for Quorn before Lawrence-Lowther doubled their lead on 75 minutes. Ilkeston briefly threatened to pull one back through Seaton when his header hit a post and his shot was cleared off the line.
It’s still early in the season but another disappointing defeat for Ilkeston and just one point from the last 6 matches leaves alarm bells ringing.

There were a lot of unhappy fans after today’s poor performance and defeat. The loss felt worse than the Bury result. At Bury we lost to a very good side. Quorn weren’t a good side and it was a game we should have won. There were even murmurings of “this must be one of the poorest Ilkeston teams in memory"
Tris, Aaron, Louis and Rich have introduced a high level of professionalism in their approach to matches but it seems that some of the players just aren’t quite good enough to play at Step 3 level. Without Pharrell Johnson in defence we looked vulnerable. Quorn created far more chances than us. We did get chances ourselves though and when they come along they have to be taken.
Our form over the last six matches is the worst in the league. I think we have to accept that the current squad needs strengthening or we’re looking like relegation candidates..

REVIEW TIME
We’ve hit the 8 game mark and so it’s time to take a look at how our new look team is doing.
I think it’s fair to say it’s bleak at the moment.
We had an incredible start to the season winning our opening two games. Then reality started to hit as we lost 3 on the bounce before an improved performance gave us a share of the points at Ashton. And then the weekend came.
Let’s face it Bury away was always going to be a tough game but to lose like we did was unacceptable. However, today’s defeat to Quorn is an even worse result. If, and it’s a big if, we are going to survive the drop this season then we must be winning against teams like Quorn.
Starting afresh with a brand new team with brand new management is a hard thing to do. Especially at this level where you need to be on your game week in week out. Maybe winning those first two games gave us all false hope but the truth is that we have been playing worse every game.
Why?
Is it the system we are playing that’s not suited for a brand new set of players? Maybe if we were an established team then moving to this new style may have worked better.Is it the players? A lot of the team haven’t played at this level before and it shows. Yes we have got some players that have played at a higher level but they can’t be expected to do all the work themselves. How long is it going to be before they start thinking of moving on to other teams?
Is it the management? This is a big step up for them, they are under no illusions about this themselves. They have a set style that has worked for them before but are they able to change and adapt it now when things aren’t working?
Is it time? Have all of the above just not been given enough time to click into place yet? Some fans are already getting restless and it’s hard to say they are wrong to do so. If results don’t pick up then fans will stay away and attendances will drop.
We knew at the start of the season it was going to be a tough ride and these last few days have proven just how hard it’s going to be. So buckle up and let’s hope we start to see some improvements soon…really soon.

We know that there a lot of good teams in the Northern Premier League so to survive you have to pick up maximum points from the weaker teams. We have already lost six point to teams who we should have beaten ie Whitby and Quorn. Let’s face the truth, we’ve not played well throughout any of our 8 games and we were fortunate in our two wins. If anything performances have got worse rather than better. We are playing with zero confidence and some of the players seem only capable of passing the ball backwards.
By the way Dylan Reason who we loaned to Grantham, scored twice yesterday.
