Full time: Ilkeston 0 Guiseley 2
Relegation is a certainty with this team.
Without Pharell Johnson we would be getting thrashed every game and we never looked like scoring.
I thought Dylan Reason was our best forward tonight.

I don’t think I’ve seen a report of yours so despondent for a long long time, but that’s how bad it is at the moment.
At home and we played with a loan striker, we had 2 spells in the game about 10 minutes each but never looked like scoring. We play out from the back it doesn’t seem to work, we put pressure on ourselves.
Paul Cox and Chris Freestone at the game, why would you bother unless ……………

Northern Premier League
Ilkeston 0 Guiseley 2
A goal in each half gave Guiseley a comfortable win against an Ilkeston team who have scored only four goals in their last ten league matches. The defeat would have been by a bigger margin but for some outstanding defending by captain Pharrell Johnson.
Ilkeston started reasonably well and might have gone ahead with a L’varn Brandy effort but it was Guiseley who took the lead with an outstanding goal by Amir Berchil on 20 minutes. It nearly didn’t count as his effort flew into the top corner of the net and came back into play. The referee thought it must have hit the bar and didn’t give a goal until his line assistant informed him otherwise. The goal gave Guiseley a lift and Ilkeston were under some pressure to stop going further behind before half time.
The start of the second half was Ilkeston’s best period when they were able to launch some promising attacks. Full back Sonny Davis broke forward down the right on a couple of occasions sending over crosses which created danger but the best scoring chances were falling to Guiseley at the other end. Sam Wilson twice saved Ilkeston from going further behind. Ilkeston’s Anthony Dwyer had a half chance inside the area but he was denied by a defender. Winger Dylan Reason fought hard to get Ilkeston back into contention but Guiseley’s second goal on 72 minutes by Jordan Thewlis settled the result. There was nearly a third goal when a Guiseley shot hit the post. So another defeat in a game when Ilkeston were always second best and guilty of giving the ball away too many times.

There’s a level of despondency among supporters that I’ve not witnessed before.
The current team just isn’t good enough to compete in this league.
We’re being outplayed every game
We’re constantly having to defend
We never look like scoring
Pharrell Johnson is our only quality player who performs consistently every match.
Good luck to the new manager whoever it is.

We are still forecast not to win another game this season on FootballWebPages. Therefore it might be easier to accept we are going to be relegated and look forward to next season at step 4 and a fresh start. Paul Cox and Chris Freestone must be keen if they were their again last night Anyway I might get to see for myself on Saturday how good they really are and it could be worse we could be Stamford who have nil points so far!

Obviously I live miles away, but I feel the 'owner' is forgetting to remember his investment has to be matched with results - and then with growing income. Ilson are a team that could easily get nearly four figure gates. I've been there then, and enjoyed it myself.
Why did Deakin go? What on earth is going on?

I think you will find there were things going on behind the scenes you could say but generally fans were not happy with the quality of the football and the lack of discipline shown by the management and team. I suppose you could ask why all the players left and were fixed up with new teams as Deaks left? Deaks was very loyal to his core group and it was inevitable that they would be tempted to leave and as a result his replacement had a very difficult task of rebuilding a decimated squad. Tris and Aaron were lovely genuine people but the results were found wanting and in the end the club had no alternative as crowds were dipping. Hopefully his successor will rebuild confidence and even if they cannot avoid relegation they can restore some more optimism around the NMG.
