On Saturday there are only two MFL Premier Division matches due to FA cup ties :
Boldmere v Shepshed
Dunkirk v Westfields
Westfields have a chance to go joint top with Ilkeston on 15 points if they win at Dunkirk. A win for Westfields is not a forgone conclusion. Although Dunkirk haven't registered a win yet they have only lost one of their four matches and have drawn with Highgate, Romulus and Wolverhampton SC.
Bank Holiday Monday fixtures are :
AFC Wulfrunians v Sporting Khalsa
Coventry Sphinx v Coventry United
Ilkeston Town v South Normanton
Long Eaton v Dunkirk
Loughborough Univ v Quorn
Romulus v Highgate
Walsall Wood v Lye Town
Westfields v Wolverhampton SC
Worcester v Stourport Swifts
The Bank Holiday Monday fixture list sees some "difficult to predict" games. There's the Coventry derby which could go either way. Both have only lost once. Another important game is Romulus v Highgate. Promotion favourites Highgate are unbeaten (but have dropped points by drawing three times) and Romulus have lost just once (at Walsall Wood). Lye Town who beat Ilkeston are away to Walsall Wood in a contest which will test them.

Its usually when every team has played six games that the general places look to reflect their respective strengths and form. Some teams will after those six games have the resources to make a few tweaks and some will soldier on hoping to scrape enough points together to stay out the relegation places. Get to ten or twelves games and heads will start to roll at some clubs. Early local strugglers South Normanton and Dunkirk both lost their management teams just weeks before the start of the season so their slow starts was to be expected. Saying that we ourselves will be having a change of management but I don't see the whole wheels coming off the bus as a result (fingers crossed).

The cup tie between Loughborough University and Cleethorpes Town appeared to be a cracker. Cleethorpes led 1-0 at half time. In the second half there were four goals in an eight minute period. Joe Boachie equalised on 65 minutes but two minutes later Cleethorpes were back in front. Two minutes after that Hanson levelled for the Scholars only for Cleethorpes to go ahead again four minutes later. The seasiders led until added time when Boachie's second goal 90+1 minutes took the tie to a replay. There then followed a red card for the Cleethorpes number 8 for protesting too vigorously about a possible offside for the goal. The replay will be on Tuesday 4th September.
