Sorry not seen the teams, only just arrived at the ground.  We've got seats but they're not elevated. It's a decent view though apart from being at ground level. Been told ikeston team is unchanged from Saturday

It's 5 minutes to kickoff

The teams have just made the long walk to the pitch.  Ilkeston are in all blue tonight and Highgate are in all red.  Hope it doesn't affect our passing.          We're off ......

Gate keeper has to dash out and collect. Swift counter attack by Gate No 11. Both teams are pushing forward  but no clearcut chances yet

Re: Highgate United v Ilkeston Town : Live Updates (Tue13 Nov)

Ref gives Gate another free kick in a dangerous position.  Free kick is wasted. There's not been a decent effort on goal yet.  Foul by Piliero and Highgate are trying to get him sent off.    Piliero gets red card.  We're up against it now .   68 minutes still to play

Very good chance for Walker but he puts it wide or was it meant as a pass?   Lavell puts Reeves through but keeper makes good save.  Two decent chances not taken.  Then Walker appears to be brought down in area bur ref waves play on. Better from Ilkeston     0-0    33 minutes

Another free kick to Highgate 30 yards out. It hits wall. Great run by walker but his cross evades everyone.  Brown shot tipped over by Mitchell. At the minute you can't tell Highgate have a man advantage.   0-0    40 minutes

Yet another free kick to Highgate.  Shot is blocked.  Walker is brought down and its an Ilkeston free kick.  Tom Marshall' shot hits the inside of the post and stays out.  Reeves shot hits defender's hand -  judged to to be accidental.         Half time      HIGHGATE 0  ILKESTON 0

Fyfe replaced by Tim Hopkinson on 83 minutes. Shaw Fouls and an over reaction by Highgate players.  Nothing is going Ilkeston's way.   Dixon replaced by Jordan Wheatley

Re: Highgate United v Ilkeston Town : Live Updates (Tue13 Nov)

The way I saw it.

HIGHGATE UNITED  3  ILKESTON TOWN  1
Three excellent second half goals by Highgate gave them victory over Ilkeston who were hampered by Paulo Piliero's sending off after only 22 minutes. Despite being a player short Ilkeston had the better chances in the first half and should have been ahead at the interval but Highgate finally came good scoring three times in a ten minute spell of clinical finishing. Immediately following Piliero's dismissal for a dangerous challenge, Ilkeston missed two good chances. Jamie Walker headed over from Tom Marshall's cross on 25 minutes and an Elliott Reeves shot brought an excellent save from the Highgate keeper. On 30 minutes Ilkeston thought they should have had a penalty when Reeves went down under challenge. Liam Mitchell had to tip over a Lei Brown shot  at the other end and then just before half time Tom Marshall was unlucky to see his free kick hit the inside of the post and somehow not go in. Ilkeston then had another penalty shout when the ball struck a defender's hand but it was probably rightly judged to be accidental. After the goalless first half it was Highgate who upped their game after the restart but they were caught on the break by Reeves who gave Ilkeston the lead on 52 minutes. The goal gave Ilkeston a brief lift but Highgate nearly equalised when Kyle Dixon did well to block a shot. But on 63 minutes Highgate were level through McCauley Manning and the game changed. The equaliser gave Highgate a terrific boost and they began to play like a different team. On 70 minutes Lei Brown crossed perfectly for Manning to head them in front. Ilkeston retaliated with a nice move involving Tom Marshall but he couldn't finish. Then on 73 minutes Highgate made it 3-1. This time it was a powerful header from Aaron Brown and Ilkeston's fate was sealed. Martin McIntosh made three substitutions in an effort to retrieve the situation but Highgate played out the remaining time untroubled and Ilkeston were left to reflect on several first half missed chances.

Re: Highgate United v Ilkeston Town : Live Updates (Tue13 Nov)

The FA website is showing that Lei Brown scored Highgate's first two goals and not McCauley Manning. If the FA website is correct then Highgate's official FA team sheet given to us and the referee 45 minutes  before kickoff must have been incorrect.  No 10 scored the two goals and no.10 on the team sheet was McCauley Manning.
