Re: Pinxton v Ilkeston Town : Tue 9 July : Live Updates

Ilkeston retaliate and win a corner but when the ball comes over the ref blows for a Pinxton free kick. Walker is getting up the left flank but his cross this time goes over everyone. Good effort by Pinxton forward is only just wide.       0-1        23 minutes

Another free kick to Ilkeston about 25  yards out. Shot goes too high. Then Massiah fires over. All Ilkeston shots have been too high so far. Good turn and shot by Jermain Palmer but it's easily saved. Good work again by Matt Baker at the back.         0-1     38 minutes

Pinxton keeper has to race out to clear.  Ilkeston No 6 Ross Parker is doing well. Palmer curls one but it doesn't curl enough.      0-1     42 minutes

Ilkeston start with a swift attack down the left but Pinxton cut out the cross. Alex Marshall is on and nearly gets in but keeper robs him with last gasp grab of the ball. Cracking shot from Reco but keeper is equal to it.      0-1    51 minutes

Match Report :
Tue 9th July 2019
Pinxton  1  Ilkeston Town  4
As in their previous game, Ilkeston recovered from going behind and made it three out of three pre-season away victories. Kieran Debrouwer gave the home side a first half lead with a well taken goal but Pinxton were overwhelmed in the second half as Ilkeston finally clicked into gear. Early on, defences were on top but Pinxton went ahead on 18 minutes when Kieran Debrouwer took advantage of some hesitancy by the Ilkeston defence, firing home from ten yards out. Ilkeston were having plenty of possession but without being able to really test the Pinxton keeper. Jamie Walker and Massiah McDonald both fired chances over the bar from decent positions before Jermaine Palmer’s smart turn and shot was saved. Pinxton occasionally threatened on the break but there were no more goals before half time. Ilkeston’s second half changes altered the game. The introduction of Reco Fyfe gave Ilkeston control of midfield and they soon began to dominate. Alex Marshall immediately caused problems for the Pinxton defence and only a fine save by the Pinxton keeper denied him an equaliser on 49 minutes.  Fyfe then had a cracking shot which was met by an equally cracking save. On 55 minutes Ilkeston had a big penalty appeal when the Eastwood keeper tangled with Andre Johnson but the official gave a free kick to Pinxton. At the other end, a Pinxton header was just wide but Ilkeston’s pressure finally paid off with two goals in a minute. Walker saw two efforts saved before the ball fell kindly to Marshall for a close range tap in on 61 minutes and a minute later McDonald made it 2-1. Ilkeston were by now well on top and Marshall scored again on 70 minutes with an excellent finish into the top corner. Walker went close and Marshall had a header cleared off the line as Pinxton struggled to stem the tide of Ilkeston attacks. Walker finally got the goal he deserved after 84 minutes. Defender Mitch Robinson headed narrowly over before Pinxton nearly pulled one back with the last kick of the match that hit the woodwork.
