Clifton All Whites v Ilkeston Town (Tue 30 Jul ko 7 30) Live Updates

We have another quickly arranged friendly tonight and a chance to wipe out the memory of Saturday's big defeat at Basford. There's a lot happening just now as we draw near the start of the season proper. We still don't know what our squad will be but that should soon be revealed. The name of our Club Secretary should be announced when he returns from holiday today and the signing of players should then begin in earnest. There's less than two weeks before the FA Cup match against Loughborough University on 10 August. The Loughborough University ground won't be ready so we will probably be playing on Loughborough Dynamo's ground. We have offered our opponents the opportunity to play the match on our ground which would almost certainly give them a bigger share of the gate money. Our first home league game against Cleethorpes Town is on 17th August and we already have a good number of people signed up for hospitality, a match sponsor and matchball sponsor.  Saturday 3rd August is our final pre-season game at Grantham and also the day of our Juniors Football Tournament and Fun Day at the NMG, (12 noon till late including band in the bar).
Following the sale of Notts County, Alan Hardy has told NickHawkins "Let's make Ilkeston Town great again."
Season tickets are now on sale but without reserved car parking. Car parking will now be all pay due to abuse of reserved and concessionary parking last season.

Don't miss anything. Keep an eye on the Club website and Twitter feed for what's happening.

Back to tonight's game at Clifton, if you can't make it then you can follow the progress of the game here from 7 30.

Re: Clifton All Whites v Ilkeston Town (Tue 30 Jul ko 7 30) Live Updates

So tonight's match at Clifton will be a chance for fans to say goodbye to Lee Fowler. Lee has done really well while at the Club and last season he got us over the line, clinching promotion in that final memorable game at Loughborough University. All the best Lee. I'm sure you will find the success you deserve at another club very soon

STATEMENT FROM LEE FOWLER
Wish everyone connected with  @ilkestontown_fc
al the best for the future I will be at the game tonight say goodbye to the lads, fans staff

6 45 pm It’s chucking it down with rain here at Clifton. There’s not much cover so updates are going too be difficult but we’ll do our best.

Stainsby has to race out to clear as Clifton break. Nadat flagged as marginally offside when through on goal. Goal for Clifton. Long range effort finds the top corner and catches out Stainsby.     1-3    85 minutes

Re: Clifton All Whites v Ilkeston Town (Tue 30 Jul ko 7 30) Live Updates

For me, the two standout performances by trialists were by Kevin Bataso and Jordan Nadat. They've played in other games but I thought they did really well tonight, admittedly against weaker opposition. It was a game of numerous chances. Ilkeston had 26 shots at goal (10 on target) while Clifton had 16 shots (8 on target). Nadat was always in the thick of it and showed some good skills. Bataso came on after half time and made some speedy runs down the right wing and scored a couple of decent goals. Keeper, Brandon Ganley played particularly well in the first half making some excellent saves. Against Basford, we conceded four goals in the final 15 minutes. Tonight we scored three in the final 15 minutes.  Best player on the field was of course Reco. Can we hold on to such an influential and class player?
In the clubroom after the game all of our players and many others who were genuinely sorry that Lee Fowler was leaving, took the time to wish him well. There is a definite feeling of frustration and unease among many involved with the club at present.
