A late winner by Kevin Bastos enabled Ilkeston to chalk up their first league win against North Notts rivals Worksop Town. Ilkeston had the first opportunity when Shaun Harrad turned smartly in the area and fired just too high after 4 minutes. Cameron Dear appeared to be brought down on the edge of the area but nothing was given. Alex Marshall then had a big chance but lifted the ball over from close range. On 19 minutes Ilkeston had an escape when Craig Mitchell turned the ball in with his chest only for the offside flag to deny him. Worksop came again and Ross Durrant did well to turn a vicious shot from Steven Wooley over the bar. Tyreece Robinson sent Marshall away at the other end but his shot was blocked. This was followed by a terrific effort by Andrew Gascoigne for Worksop. Durrant was then called upon to make three outstanding saves to keep Worksop out as they threatened to go ahead. Right on half time Worksop were really unlucky when a cracking shot came back off the post. The half ended scoreless but with Worksop having had the majority of scoring opportunities. Ilkeston started the second half with more determination and within two minutes Marshall’s header struck the crossbar. On 63 minutes Ilkeston had a confident penalty appeal for handball rejected but on 65 minutes they went ahead. Marshall did really well to create the opportunity for Shaun Harrad to score his first goal for the club. Worksop fought back though and levelled through Matthew Reay with a close range header on 75 minutes. The match seemed to be heading for a draw until Bastos sealed Ilkeston’s win in added time. He had a bit of luck getting by his marker but after cutting in from the left at a difficult angle he made no mistake.

Really pleased for Kevin Da Silva Bastos to get the winner. After he came on as sub not much went right for him but he kept going. Then in added time his luck changed. He was out wide on the left and he managed to get past the defending player's tackle and stay on his feet. He cut in from a tight angle and somehow squeezed the ball past the advancing keeper. Instant hero.
Great work today by media youngsters, Danny and Max. Both stepped up to deliver for our matchday media team which was severely depleted due to holidays.
