Can we capitalise on Saturday's win and get another three points against our Derbyshire neighbours, Belper Town? We certainly weren't at our best on Saturday and we will need to play much better against the Nailers. Despite the last gasp victory against Worksop, Mark Clifford was far from happy with the performance and be looking for a big improvement. Belper have won their first two league matches and will be looking to extend their winning start. They have beaten Market Drayton and Frickley and on Saturday they drew 1-1 with Sporting Khalsa in the FA Cup.
It's going to be a warm afternoon so let's hope for a big Bank Holiday crowd with a fair few Belper fans making the short journey. This afternoon will see the return of former Ilkeston FC favouirte, Danny Gordon playing for the visitors. It's going to be another cracker.

Despite losing a player midway through the first half, Belper held on for a point at the NMG on a very warm energy draining afternoon. Belper were first to attack and Derry Robson fired wide in the first minute. Then at the other end, Danny South’s back header nearly caught out keeper Ryan Musselwhite. Nathan Curtis twice fired wide as Belper started to get on top but the pressure was relieved by a Shaun Harrad header that went past the post. The game was to change on 25 minutes when Cameron Dear was unceremoniously brought down by Steve Ridley as he raced towards goal. After a discussion with the linesman a red card was produced and Belper were reduced to ten players. It didn’t immediately show and Nathan Curtis produced a fine run and cross which caused problems in the Ilkeston goalmouth. Belper then had a penalty appeal turned down when South claimed to have been pushed but it remained scoreless as the half time whistle blew.Ilkeston started the second half with more determination but it was Belper who nearly went ahead when a fierce shot by George Milner struck the post. Ilkeston gradually started to take control and Reco Fyfe created a chance but his shot was blocked. As Belper came under more pressure, Fabian Smith was heavily fouled and this resulted in a mass handbags moment. Speedy Kevin Bastos was having plenty of success down the right and from one of his crosses, Harry Wakefield’s header was brilliantly saved by keeper Ryan Musselwhite. The Belper custodian was infuriating the Ilkeston faithful with his constant time wasting but he continued to defy Ilkeston’s forwards as they pressed for a late winner. Wakefield again went close in the dying moments but the offside flag was raised anyway and Belper survived to take a point.
