Is Ben Pringle our most successful export to the Football League in the last thirty years or so?

Ben Pringle

Ben was born in Whitley Bay on 27th May 1989. He attended Cramlington High School but started his footballing career at Cramlington Juniors before joining the famous Wallsend Boys Club. He started his professional career as a trainee at West Bromwich Albion. Ben did not progress to the firat team at the Hawthorns and dropped down into non-league. He joined Newcastle Blue Star and the  Morpeth Town.  Ben also had trials at Ross County, Boston United, Blyth Spartans, Workington Reds and Berwick Rangers before moving south to join David Holdsworth at Ilkeston Town in 2008. He made 56 appearances and scored six goals for the Robins culminating in promotion to the Conference North under Paul Hurst and Rob Scott.
Ben’s form on the left hand side of midfield had attracted scouts and it was no surprise when he joined Derby County. His first full game for Derby was ironically against Rotherham United a team he later joined. Ben was captain of the Derby reserve side that won the Central League Central Section League in 2010. In March 2011 he joined Torquay United on a months loan to gain experience but he returned after just nineteen days determined to fight for a first team place. However at the of the 2011-12 ben was told he could find another club and joined Rotherham on a free transfer. His form was a major factor in the Millers automatic promotion to League One in 2013. Ben then played in a play off final as Rotherham claimed their second promotion in two years.
Back in the Championship Ben attracted the attention of bigger clubs and he was linked with a move to Hull City. Rotherham even agreed to sell him to Millwall but Ben turned down the move. After making 147 appearance for Rotherham and scoring twenty goals he eventually moved to Fulham in June 2015. Ben has revitalized his career again with a loan move to Ipswich in February 2016 where he rediscovered his scoring boots.

Re: Ben Pringle

Good to see Ex Robin Ben Pringle come off the bench for Tranmere Rovers in the EFL Div Two play offs and play a significant in their victory over Newport County. Ben had a hand in the build up to the winning goal from Jennings and will be hoping to make his loan spell more permanent. Pringle has been on loan from his parent club Preston at Grimsby Town already this season before joining Tranmere.
