Frickley v Ilkeston - Live Updates

Saturday we travel to South Elmsall to play Frickley Athletic. Frickley have lost all 4 of their league matches so far. They have been beaten by Carlton 2-3, Worksop 1-2, Belper 1-3 and Chasetown 0-3.  They will be desperate to get their first win so it won’t be an easy game. Their attendances in their two home games have been 260 against Worksop and 264 against Chasetown so the gate tomorrow could well be around 350. Frickley have conceded 11goals, 8 of which have been in the second half. They scored first against Carlton, Worksop and Belper, so it looks like they start well then fade in the second half.
Apparently Chris Robertson will be available for Ilkeston so where will he play? His is a centre back so will he replace Tyreece or will Tyreece move to another position? Will Lavell get back in the team after being dropped for poor timekeeping. Will Conor Green keep his place at full back. Will Reco be pushed into a more attacking role? There are so many options within this squad. Nick said at the forum that there may be another player coming in who would replace one of the current squad. Who might that be?

Re: Frickley v Ilkeston - Live Updates

Well another player . I can't get AGAIN .
Anymore sponsors mentioned at the forum ?  God knows where the money is coming from. Profit margins must be good for the hospitality suite.

Re: Frickley v Ilkeston - Live Updates

Frickley don't look like a pointless side. Orlando-Young fires one miles over. Good play by Reco and Fabian Smiths shot is saved. Hazel is looking like Frickley's main threat. Great run and cross by Green but Orlando-Young can't connect. Johnny Prior shoots wide for Frickley.      1-0     21 minutes

Re: Frickley v Ilkeston - Live Updates

Frickley Athletic  1  Ilkeston Town  3
In a game of two halves, three first half goals were enough to extend Ilkeston’s unbeaten run to five matches on a difficult bumpy surface at South Elmsall. Conor Green gave Ilkeston an early lead when he headed in following a corner. Frickley nearly levelled on 12 minutes when a fierce shot went into the side netting. Ilkeston were close to adding to their lead when a glancing header by Harrad was headed off the line but a second goal arrived on 37 minutes and it was a cracker from Jermain Hollis. Ilkeston’s midfielder lashed in a loose ball on the edge of the box which gave Frickley keeper Tom Jackson, no chance of stopping it. The Frickley defence were looking vulnerable with Harrad and Hollis again going close before Harrad finally added a third just before half time with a striker's finish. Frickley made two half time substitutions and played much better after the restart. They deservedly pulled one back through Jack McMenemy on 62 minutes. Three minutes later Frickley were denied what looked like a clear penalty for a trip in the area. Jacob Hazel then saw his shot slam against a post as Frickley enjoyed their best period of the game, Kevin Da Silva Bastos was introduced on 78 minutes and opportunities started to accumulate for Ilkeston. Reco Fyfe had a good chance in the final five minutes after great work by Bastos but Frickley also should have scored when a shot hit an Ilkeston defender. Finally, Fyfe looked certain to score Ilkeston’s fourth with the game’s last chance but he blazed over.

Re: Frickley v Ilkeston - Live Updates

Spoke to two of the Frickley officials about Martin McIntosh's time there. It seems there was something unusual about the way he left. Both of the officials were full of praise for McIntosh and were really sorry to see him go. They were reluctant to discuss the circumstances of his departure saying they weren't allowed to talk about it. They said that they were really impressed with McIntosh's work at the club so it seems like McIntosh was unlucky to lose his job. I got the impression that a new Director came in and wanted to instal his own man as manager.
