Ilkeston Town v Wisbech Town (Tue 1st Oct, ko 7 45pm) Live Updates

Despite the recent rain, tonights match is on and Wisbech will now be on their way. The pitch will obviously be wet and iIf the match goes to form it should be an Ilkeston win. I don't know much about the Wisbech team but apparently they have two players doubtful due to injuries. I think we could well achieve our biggest win tonight. That means winning by more than 3-0.
Follow the updates here from 7 45pm.

It looks like a thin crowd tonight. Seems like a lot of fans thought the game might be off. Anyway, it's a wet pitch but the officials had no hesitation in passing it playable

Ilkeston first to attack. Header wide by Orlando-Young. All the play is in the Wisbech half so far. Wisbech's first attack is a good one but Durrant saves. Philip shoots but Durrant is down to save.     0-0     7 minutes

Shaun Harrad header from Lavell's cross is wide but good effort. Wisbech are defending well but nothing much up front. Shot on the turn by Harrad but keeper smoothers it on the line.      0-0    35 minutes

Kaye shoots from distance and its miles over. Orlando-Young cuts in but his shot is well wide after good play by Reco.

McDonald on for Mason Lee on 60 minutes. Good move down left by Ilkeston but Wisbech clear. Great Chance for Ilkeston on the break but luck is on Wisbech side as ricochet goes their way. Hollis crosses and Orlando header is wide.  Much better from Ilkeston . Now looking more threatening. Great tip over by Wilson from Tom Marshall. Reco shot is charged down as Wisbech hang on        1-1      68 minutes

Penalty for Wisbech Handball given aginst Lavell. Looked a bit harsh as the ball came off his body onto his hand.

Free kick to Ilkeston on right side of area. Comes to nothing. Hart tests Durrant on the break. Wisbech are dealing with Ilkeston's attack. We need something special       1-2    83 minutes

Good effort by McDonald after making room for a shot but Wilson gets behind it. Wisbech now understandably taking their time. The game looks lost.        1-2   87 minutes

Corner to Ilkeston.   Brilliant save by Wilson from Freeman header. Wild challenge from a frustrated McDonald after losing the ball and he gets the inevitable yellow. Another desperate scramble in Wisbech goalmouth but they somehow escape and its only a corner. Ilkeston header goes inches wide.
Ilkeston crowd furious at Wisbech player who goes down with an apparent injury.     1-2      into added time

Another corner but Wisbech clear.  There's full time and Ilkeston's unbeaten home record comes to an end.

ILKESTON  1  WISBECH  2

Ilkeston were not at their best but unlucky to lose. Great performance from Wisbech who are well pleased.

Re: Ilkeston Town v Wisbech Town (Tue 1st Oct, ko 7 45pm) Live Updates

There was a big effort by Ilkeston to draw level in the closing stages but tonight luck deserted them and Wisbech took the points. On Saturday against Newcastle we had a bit of luck with a couple of decisions that went our way. Tonight luck was against us when Lavell White was harshly penalised after the ball deflected off his body onto his hand in the penalty area and was surely not an intentional hand ball.
The Wisbech defence played particularly well throughout the match and they will no doubt feel that they deserved only their second win of the season. For Ilkeston it was a disappointing and unexpected defeat and a missed chance to go second.  Ilkeston's lowest gate this season (only 282) really got behind the team towards the end but the Wisbech defence held out wth keeper Wilson producing a brilliant instinctive save right at the death.

Tonight's other two results :
Cleethorpes 3  Glossop North End  1
Frickley Athletic  3  Loughborough Dynamo  0
Cleethorpes win takes them above Ilkeston and Frickley earned a third win on the bounce.

Re: Ilkeston Town v Wisbech Town (Tue 1st Oct, ko 7 45pm) Live Updates

How I saw the game :

Ilkeston Town  1  Wisbech Town  2
Lowly Wisbech shocked Ilkeston after the Robins had gone ahead just before half time. Within a minute they were level after a superb strike from Jurelle Philip which went in off the post. Fifteen minutes from time Ilkeston felt unlucky to have a penalty given against them when Lavell White was adjusted to have handled. On a night when many games were postponed due to waterlogged pitches, the New Manor Ground was declared playable. Chances were few early on and Ilkeston’s best effort came from a Shaun Harrad shot that just cleared the crossbar on 13 minutes. Wisbech were content to defend in numbers and break out when the opportunity arose. Harrad was close again on 35 minutes with a shot on the turn which Sam Wilson managed to smother on the goal line but the breakthrough goal arrived four minutes later. It came from a throw-in on the right which was flicked on by Chris Robertson and headed home by Harrad. But before the Ilkeston fans had finished celebrating Wisbech were level through Philip’s wonderful strike. The  second half saw Wisbech becoming more adventurous and causing Ilkeston problems on the break. On 65 minutes McDonald forced Wilson to save well but Wisbech went up the other end and Durrant had to save. Tom Marshall’s shot from distance was tipped over and Reco Fyfe’s shot was deflected wide as Ilkeston started to build up pressure. Out of the blue Wisbech were awarded a penalty on 75 minutes. The ball hit Lavell White and deflected onto his arm but despite Ilkeston’s protests a penalty was given and Danny Setchell converted. Ilkeston made desperate efforts to rescue a point but through determination and aa little good fortune Wisbech held out. Dean Freeman was closest to equalising but was denied by a brilliant Sam Wilson save. The defeat ended Ilkeston’s unbeaten home record.
