Re: Glossop v Ilkeston : Live Updates

Chance for McDonald after good play by Wells but he fails to get his shot away. GOAL Glossop.   Looked like Durrant should have saved it as it was from quite a way out.  Braulio Maeico the scorer     0-1     8 minutes

Re: Glossop v Ilkeston : Live Updates

Good move by Glossop nearly brings another goal. Massiah brought down near corner.  Nothing comes from free kick. First Ilkeston shot is by Whyman but way too high.         0-2      27 minutes

Re: Glossop v Ilkeston : Live Updates

To say it's a slow start by Ilkeston is an understatement. Good run by Ox. Good cross by Ox.  Thats a bit better by Ilkeston now.      0-2      33 minutes

Re: Glossop v Ilkeston : Live Updates

Good effort by Wells is only just wide. GOAL ILKESTON. It's a header by Wells after good play by OX on the right and a fine cross by McDonald which finds Wells.       1-2     37 minutes

Re: Glossop v Ilkeston : Live Updates

Apparently the first Glossop goal was not Durrant's fault. The ball hit a divot which took the shot past Durrant leaving him helpless to stop it. That explains why the scorer didn't celebrate.

Shot by Maeico is wide.  Campbell Gordon races away and his shot goes across face of goal. Then Hollis volleys wide. Game is more open now with both sides attacking.      1-2      52 mins

Ilkeston shot deflected for a corner .   GOAL for Ilkeston following a big scramble in the goalmouth so not sure who scored but it's   2-3  with 11 minutes left.  Scorer was Kole Lambert.

Re: Glossop v Ilkeston : Live Updates

My after match thoughts :

Took Ilkeston a long time to get going in the first half. Durrant was unlucky with the shot that hit a divot and diverted past him but going two behind was always going to be difficult to come back from. When Ilkeston got one back they looked capable of winning but Glossop's third goal against the run of play put paid to that. We should be winning games like this. Don't know why Reco and Jamie didn't start as they are our most creative players. Battling performance from Kieran Wells and good skills shown by Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Re: Glossop v Ilkeston : Live Updates

We terrible first 20 mins . Good first goal . Yet again thr ref let their get away with holding onto ball when was ours. Then he books our player for swearing.
Wells looks a great signing .

Re: Glossop v Ilkeston : Live Updates

Glossop North End   3  Ilkeston Town  2
Ilkeston suffered a third defeat in four matches when they travelled to mid-table Glossop North End. On a difficult surface Ilkeston took too long to settle and were two behind after only 16 minutes, a deficit which proved to be too much to recover from. A fluke goal gave Glossop the lead on 9 minutes when a decent but optimistic shot by Glossop’s outstanding player, Braulio Maeico hit a divot on the bumpy surface which took the ball past the unfortunate Ross Durrant. Glossop extended their lead with a well taken far post header by Porya Ahmadi and at this point Ilkeston’s prospects looked as bleak as the weather. Gradually though, Ilkeston got back into the game and deservedly reduced the arrears on 37 minutes with the best goal of the game. Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain created the chance finding Massiah McDonald whose cross was met with a bullet header by Kieran Wells. The goal lifted Ilkeston but they couldn’t find an equaliser before half time. The second half started with opportunities for both sides. Maeico’s shot was narrowly wide for Glossop while Ryan Campbell-Gordon had a great run down the left which ended with his cross shot going wide of the far post. Glossop keeper Dale Latham did really well to hold onto a Wells snap shot but just as Ilkeston were getting on top they were caught out by a swift Glossop counter attack and a clinical finish by Maeico. A shot by Richard Whyman came back into play off a post as Ilkeston fought back but Glossop also had chances on the break. Following sustained Ilkeston pressure substitute Kole Lambert made it 2-3 after a goalmouth scramble on 79 minutes to set up a tense finish. Ilkeston pushed hard for a leveller but it wouldn’t come. Glossop nearly scored again on 90 minutes when Durrant saved magnificently after Ilkeston had thrown everyone forward.
