It's the match we've been waiting for and a chance to avenge the early season 4-2 defeat at Stamford. Along with Leek, Stamford have proved to be the best and most consistent teams in the league. Not many will be expecting an Ilkeston win today but Stamford will know it won't be an easy game in front of a big partisan crowd. It should be a brilliant game to watch with both teams desperate to take all three points. Stamford want the automatic promotion place and Ilkeston haven't given up on getting into the playoffs. This match is not be missed but if you can't make it you can follow the updates here.
As well as Ilkeston v Stamford there are some other cracking matches in our league today.

This is going to be a very hard game against a very good team in Stamford ,. and we need to watch out for their player Rob Morgan . I thought he was their star player the night we lost 4-2 where really ran our midfield ragged all night.

My match report :
Sat 4 January 2020
Northern Premier League, South East Division
Ilkeston Town 2 Stamford 4
Promotion chasing Stamford proved too good for Ilkeston and repeated the scoreline of when the two teams met earlier in the season at the Zeeco Stadium. Debutant Melanius Mullarkey put Ilkeston ahead before Stamford replied through a Kieran Fenton own goal and a Rob Morgan header. In first half added time Ilkeston levelled through a Jamie Walker penalty but two more second half goals won it for Stamford.
The match started at a pace as Stamford tried to assert control but It was Ilkeston who struck first through Mullarkey who fired home a loose ball after Alex Marshall’s shot had been saved. Stamford were close to an equaliser on 20 minutes but Ilkeston keeper Ross Durrant blocked an effort by Tom Siddons. However, five minutes later they were level when a cross by Tendai Chitiza was diverted past Durrant by Kieran Fenton. Five minutes after that Stamford were ahead through Rob Morgan and they dominated the rest of the first half. Cosmos Matwasa was close to increasing Stamford’s lead on 42 minutes when his strike hit the post but two minutes into added time Ilkeston were awarded a penalty from which Walker scored and the teams went in level.
There was a frenetic start to the second half as Stamford hit the post again then Kole Lambert raced to the other end and had his shot brilliantly saved by Danny Haystead. On 49 minutes Stamford went 3-2 up through James Hicks. Fenton did his best to stop his shot on the line but couldn’t keep it out. Lambert had a shot deflected over on 52 minutes then five minutes later headed against the bar. Stamford then found the net only for it be ruled out for offside. On 78 minutes the visitors went two goals up in somewhat contentious circumstances when Durrant was adjudged to have tripped Chitiza. Harry Vince scored from the spot but two minutes from time he was dismissed after receiving a second yellow for time wasting.

Stamford match Report:
Match reaction from Stamford AFC manager Graham Drury after their 4-2 victory at Ilkeston Town
Proud boss Graham Drury declared his Stamford's side display as their best of the season as they ran out 4-2 winnersin Saturday's BetVictor Northern Premier League South East Division clash at Ilkeston Town. The victory at the New Manor Ground extended Stamford's undefeated league run to 14 games and continued their unbeaten away record despite a series of setbacks threatening to derail their run at the seventh-placed Robins. They fell behind after creating a series of good early chances before two goals in four first half minutes put them back in front.Stamford's players were praised by manager Graham Drury. Photo: Dan Allen (26031115) However, in first half injury-time, referee Luke Watson continued his spree of making erratic decisions by handing Ilkeston a penalty which they converted to equalise. He had earlier booked home boss Martin Carruthers after he had vented his frustrations. James Hicks restored Stamford's lead four minutes after the break before Harry Vince's penalty with 12 minutes remaining secured the success. But Vince was then dismissed in the final throes of an action-packed contest after collecting a second caution. The Daniels midfielder had been booked in the first half for an apparent hand-ball and was then yellow-carded again late on for time-wasting after taking too long over a throw-in. Drury said: "We've won a game of football and I'm finding it very difficult not to talk about a few of the referee's decisions.

Hes right about the referee! He made some very strange decisions. Both penalties were iffy and just before he gave ours there were two obvious errors from him that went against us. Many fans in the stand thought he'd gave us the pen to make up for his two earlier poor decisions.
To be honest I don't think he influenced the results in any way perhaps it might have finished 1-3 instead of 2-4. Stamford were a class apart on the day.
