In my opinion, a fair result. In the first half Ilkeston were definitely second best against what can only be described as an ordinary Glossop side . They were a bit better in the second half but never looked like scoring. Without Wells and Alex Marshall, we offered no threat. On the plus side the three young players, Render, Dill and Wilson did ok.
Interesting that the Glossop manager described their performance as the best of the season.

Sat 1st February 2020
Northern Premier League, South East Division
Ilkeston Town 0 Glossop North End 1
A goal from Glossop substitute Henry Limpishi 9 minutes from time condemned Ilkeston to a fifth home defeat. In a game with very few scoring opportunities, Glossop just about deserved their win. Ilkeston were second best in a goalless first half but despite an improved showing in the second half it was Glossop who grabbed the winner.
A header by Alex Render was Ilkeston’s first attempt and this was followed by a Reco Fyfe shot which was charged down by a defender. On 15 minutes Braulio Maeico came closest to opening the scoring for Glossop after a penetrating run and powerful shot which Ross Durrant did well to keep out. This was followed by a good effort by Alexander Rosenberg which was only just wide. Ilkeston responded with a cracking 25 yarder by Fyfe which was brilliantly tipped over by Dale Latham. Maeico then had a real chance from a left wing cross but he failed to get a connection with the goal at his mercy. As half time approached attacking play became more disjointed and both sides failed to produce any worthwhile openings but the strong wind was not helping.
There continued to be very few chances after the restart until Fernando Bell-Toxtle’s effort on 65 minutes which was pushed out by Latham. Mason Lee then headed over from Billy Bennett’s cross. On 78 minutes Maeico’s thumping drive was kept out by Durrant but three minutes later Glossop scored what turned out to be the winner. It was a scrappy goal in keeping with the game. Ilkeston failed to clear a long throw-in into the box and Lampishi scrambled the ball into the net via a deflection. Latham had to punch clear in the final minutes but Glossop were otherwise able to keep Ilkeston at bay and hold on to the points.
