Match Report
First of all Notts County Ladies are a very good side with some excellent players. Ilkeston went ahead with their first real attack. There was a possibility of offside in the build-up but their linesman kept his flag down. It was a terrific finish by Jade. Notts were quick to retaliate and Ilkeston were forced to defend. On 10 minutes they deservedly equalised and five minutes later they scored again. When they went 3-1 up on 25 minutes it looked like a looming defeat for Ilkeston but they kept going and two minutes later pulled one back through the tireless Georgina Williams. Previously unbeaten Notts knew they were in a game and did their best to restore their two goal advantage but there were no more goals before half time and 2-3 to Notts was a fair reflection.
Ilkeston made a great start to the second half when Georgina scored an amazing equaliser firing in from what seemed an impossible angle. The goal gave Ilkeston belief and the rest of the game saw both sides trying to win it. It could have gone either way and both sides had near misses. It was Ilkeston who finished strongest and Notts had to throw everyone back to defend a late Ilkeston flurry as our girls sensed they could get a late winner. For the hundred or so who watched it was a cracking competitive game between two excellent teams who gave it their all. In the end a draw was a fair result as neither team deserved to lose.
