Next up Leek Town.

If ever there was an away banker then this looks like it. Leek are top of the league, P24, W20, D3 and L1. We were unlucky to lose 2-1 at Leek early in the season when we felt that refereeing decisions went against us but since then Leek have gone from strength to strength and we have slipped down the table.

Re: Next up Leek Town.

We go into this game with nothing to lose. Nobody will be expecting anything but a heavy defeat.  But sometimes your luck can change following a refereeing decision. It just takes a lucky break like your opponents keeper being incorrectly penalised, a penalty given and the keeper sent off.

Re: Next up Leek Town.

We more than matched Leek for an hour but lost the plot a bit after Stainsby was sent off. Leek are a good side and took there chance ruthlessly once they saw a chink of light after we were down to ten men and then nine. Ultimately that is why they are runaway leaders. Killer instinct! We have nothing to lose on Saturday and nobody expect us to win son hopefully the players will just go for it!
I must say though the Leek Town club officials were class and I will be looking forward to meeting them again.

Re: Next up Leek Town.

Being at that game I thought especially the second half their left centre back was pinging balls all over the place from his left . What got me is that not one of our strikers thought of putting him on his right . Of course I  not a manager and never will be but the basics of football is if a player is good on his left make him play on his right . I was told this at school.

Re: Next up Leek Town.

I think the 70 odd minutes we played against leek is the best we have played all season. When the double decker bus turned up their faces were a picture. A lot of noise was made that night so hopefully we can do the same on Saturday

Re: Next up Leek Town.

* Leek’s 1-0 win at Chasetown was their 13th consecutive league win and gives them an eight point lead at the top of the table.

* They have only lost once , a 2-1 defeat at Cleethorpes. They have been held to a draw only three times, against Stocksbridge, Newcastle and Stamford.

* They have not conceded a goal in any of their last five matches and have only conceded 15 goals in their 25 league matches played. They have by a long way the meanest defence in the league.

* Considering their position in the league they do not score a lot of goals. The most they have scored in a league match is four goals. Their main marksman is Timothy Grice who is the league’s leading scorer with 23 goals.

* Leek have the second best gates in our league behind us (average attendance 366) so hopefully they will bring a few fans to the NMG. Their best gate this season was in an FA Cup match against Kings Lynn when 790 attended.

Re: Next up Leek Town.

At the risk of looking like a ridiculous over-optimistic fool; I have this feeling that we won't lose against Leek.
We are due a change of fortune and this may just be the match when it happens.
At Leek we were so unlucky to lose following a result-changing refereeing decision.
Will a game changing decision go our way this time?
Every one will be expecting us to lose so the players will be under less pressure than normal.
We have home debuts for Joe Maguire and Wayne Hallcro the new assistant manager. Will this give our team a lift?
Also we have been informed that the plans for next season's 4G pitch have now been passed and this should give supporters a feel good factor.
With a fair wind and the Clocktower end supporters behind us, anything is possible.
