Ilkeston Town Ladies

Another great performance by our ladies team. They really are good and plenty of our supporters are going down to watch them now.

Match report :

Wed 11th March 2020
Ilkeston Town Ladies 6 Derby County Ladies 0
On a rainy night at the New Manor Ground, a devastating opening 33 minutes by Ilkeston Ladies saw them home and dry after scoring four times without reply. Georgina Williams opened the scoring after just four minutes. Jade Eaglefield was just wide with a belter and then was denied by a super save as Ilkeston piled on the pressure. The floodgates opened and three more goals came in quick succession, two for Hannah Bloomfield and one for Jade Eaglefield before Derby managed to steady the ship. On the stroke of half time Derby had their best chance with a header following a corner but just before that they nearly conceded a fifth when their crossbar was rattled. The second half saw a significant improvement by the visitors but without them seriously threatening the Ilkeston goal. It took until the 65th minute for Ilkeston to score again with a second goal for Jade Eaglefield. Derby almost got one back when a long shot was just off target but Ilkeston were always more likely to add to their score and Charlotte Boyle completed the scoring five minutes from time.

Loughborough Foxes  5  Ilkeston Town Ladies  4
After recent good results, Ilkeston Ladies slipped to an unexpected defeat against Loughborough Foxes. It was all the more disappointing because they had totally dominated the first half. Ilkeston led by 3-1 at half time and appeared to be on course for a routine victory. The first period had seen the Foxes goalkeeper keep Loughborough in the game with a series of outstanding saves but Ilkeston were guilty of missing several opportunities. Ultimately, those missed chances proved to be crucial and cost them the game. Two goals by Hayley Brown and one by Georgina Williams gave Ilkeston a lead that they did not expect to lose but a spectacular turnaround after the break saw Loughborough steal the points. The Foxes scored four times in the second half before Gina Shaw pulled one back for Ilkeston. An Ilkeston effort shook the crossbar but they could not find an equaliser.
