Lincoln United Amalgamation........... as reported by NonLeagueToday

 Neighbours Announce Club Merger

BetVictor Northern Premier League Division One South East club Lincoln United and Hykeham Town are amalgamating into one club, under the Lincoln United name and brand.     Hykeham Town committee members will join the Lincoln United Board with immediate effect, to manage the transition and become part of the Board that carries the club into the new era.

In the short term, both clubs will remain focused on delivering the rest of their respective seasons and will officially become ‘one club’ in the off-season via a joint AGM.

The strengths and qualities of both clubs will come together to create a ‘new dawn’ for Lincoln United FC.

The 2020/21 season will immediately see the following changes:

• Focus on a talent pathway for the men's first team.
• Introduction of Lincoln United’s first ever female section.
• Doubling of the size of the youth section.
• Pre-school provisions for both boys and girls, as a pipeline for future junior teams.
• Signification growth of the club’s workforce to improve area like marketing, commercials and governance.

With all transitions of this nature, it will require patience and support from all involved with both clubs.

Hykeham`s President and treasurer Lee Griffin said: "This represents a unique moment, where a club with a deep history and a club that is young and modern, amalgamate to create a stronger and more sustainable club. A lot of work will go on in the background in preparation for the new 2020/21 season, and I am personally very excited about the future."

Lincoln United chairman Ian Beaumont said: "I personally feel this is a great fit for both clubs. The two clubs actually needed each other at this moment in time. The merger will mean Lincoln United can grow as a whole. With all the youth teams, in time we can develop our own players with a clear pathway through to the first team. We will have our first ever Lincoln United Women's team, I’m sure more will follow! Coming together as one, I can only see bright things ahead with the local people involved who care deeply for the club and the people in it".

Returning Boss Makes TWENTY-FOUR Signings!

Sam Wilkinson and Stuart Reddington wasted no time in making BetVictor Northern Premier League Division One South East club Lincoln United`s secretary a very busy man!
Ahead of Saturday`s 2-0 home defeat to Leek Town, no less than TWENTY-FOUR players were registered with the league office!

However, eleven of those have been signed from United`s own under-18 and development squads.

SkyBet League One neighbours Lincoln City`s under-18 goalkeeper Ross Woolley, formerly with Doncaster Rovers, joins on `work experience`.He turned 18 on Friday.

Striker George Asplin joins from Newark Town on dual registration. The 24-year-old has been in prolific form for the Central Midlands League North Division outfit, having scored 23 goals in 24 games to date. He was with United before, back in 2014, having joined from Collingham.

Striker Jack Boswell arrives from league rivals Cleethorpes Town. He is an exciting young prospect who broke into Clee`s first team squad in the latter stages of the last campaign having had a successful loan spell with Toolstation Northern Counties East League side Skegness Town.

Defender Kyle Bryant joins from another league rival, Belper Town. Bryant returned to the Nailers in July 2019 from Loughborough Dynamo. Formerly with Mickleover Sports, he can play in variety of positions with a preference as an attacking wing back where can make excellent deliveries into the box. He was previously at Belper before joining Mickleover and blossomed during his time away from Christchurch Meadow.

Another forward, Harrison Holland, joins from East Midlands Counties League side Clifton All Whites. Had spells on the books at Exeter City, Sheffield Wednesday, Doncaster Rovers and Nottingham Forest as a youngster and more recently has been with both National League North outfit Boston United and their Uhlsport United Counties League Premier Division neighbours Boston Town.

Ryan Oliver (pictured) is another forward who returns to United for a second spell from UCL Premier Division outfit Holbeach United.

Wilkinson originally signed Oliver from Sleaford Town in May 2017 before he returned to the UCL Premier Division side. He has since turned out for Deeping Rangers, Boston Town as well as Holbeach.

Defenders Joe Nicholson and Callum Ward have signed dual forms from Hykeham Town, who are to join forces with Lincoln United at the end of the season and where Wilkinson had been helping with coaching.

Midfielder Archie Parry has signed forms from Lincolnshire League side Horncastle Town, another midfielder, Ewan Wilks, arrives from another of Hykeham`s rival, Nettleham.

Josh Wilson joins from Central Midland League North Division outfit Collingham and Jack Wightwick re-joins the Whites from NPL Premier Division side Grantham Town. Wightwick only signed for the Gingerbreads in December 2019. He is a quick midfielder who gets plenty of goals and assists, including 35 in 66 for Boston Town and 3 goals and 7 assists for Lincoln United earlier this season. He has also been with Louth Town, Boston United and Spalding United.
