Only the top six in the Premier Division have better average attendances than Ilkeston (ie. South Shields, FC United, Scarborough, Morpeth, Stafford and Whitby).
FC United and South Shields are by far the best two supported teams
The above attendance figures of most of the Premier Division teams were boosted by FC United's several hundred travelling supporters.
Belper had the highest attendance in the South East Division (753) against Ilkeston.
Ilkeston's attendances of over 500 were: 663 v Belper, 602 v Cleethorpes, 598 v Stocksbridge, 595 v Worksop 568 v Leek and 552 v Stamford
Cleethorpes highest attendance (556) was against Leek. Their second highest was 502 against Ilkeston.
Stamford had one 500 plus gate. That was against local rivals Spalding (513).
The NPL team watched by the biggest crowd of the season - 5,729, was Belper at Notts County in the FA Cup.

Good work mate.
Just think what our average would be if we were in the premier league.
The top 7 and then this isn't counting local games v Matlock, Buxton , mickleover , Grantham and Gainsborough
I would say a 600+ average maybe more

Good to see Grantham are still packing them in at the South Kesteven Bowl!!

I was surprised to see how low Basford United's gates are. They are lovely people there with great facilities and a fine team but still not enough people want to watch them! Why? Maybe Nottinghamshire do not rate non league football. Carlton doing well but very low gates and other clubs who looked to have great potential have just gone under or slipped down the pyramid i.e.. Eastwood, Hucknall, Arnold, Gedling Town, Oakham United, Sutton Town, Greenwood Meadows, Retford Town, Radcliffe Olympic, Rainworth MW etc. Although Ive just realised they now have the best supported non league club in the country in Notts County! Odd I wonder if its connected?

1.Ilkeston Town 16 663 282 7972 498
We know there is a big difference between NMG day match attendances and night match attendances
These are the figures for league matches last season.
Of the 16 home league games two were night matches
Tue 3rd Sep Spalding Attendance 389
Tue 1st Oct Wisbech Attendance 282
So the average attendance for night matches was 335.
The average attendance for 3pm kickoffs was 521
Is there a reason why less people come to night matches?
Is there anything we can do to improve the attendances at night matches?

* Ilkeston's visits to Stamford and Leek were both night matches
At every away match, with the exception of Stamford, Ilkeston's visit produced a gate bigger than the club's average.
Belper, Wisbech and Sutton Coldfield had their biggest home attendances against Ilkeston

Feel sorry for Basford as in their crowds attendances . The club are doing everything right as a non league club at the moment but they just don't get the crowds . The club have major plans for the future but will the people Basford support it ?

Same applies to Carlton. Last year they finished second bottom and their average gate was 84. This year they had a great season with Tommy Brookbanks and Mark Harvey in charge and were pushing for promotion but their average gate only went up to 113. With their results they deserved attendances at least double that.
According to Football Web Pages, Basford's attendances were up by 17% from 286 to 336. That's a good increase but still way below the majority of other teams in their league. They have an ambitious owner, a top manager and a good media team. They deserve better support.

I do feel sorry for the good people at Basford and Carlton. If Basford has been promoted this season there average gates in the National League North would have been lower than all the other teams.
I do not know what more they can do to attract the fans.
We are very lucky at Ilkeston We have a large fan base, great ground and now we seem to have secure financial backing! Basford have the last one but arguably not the first two and I do not know where Carltons money come from but it certainly not gate money.
