Stocksbridge PS FC Statement

 STOCKSBRIDGE PARK STEELS FC STATEMENT
We have, as a Club, waited until we have been in possession of all the scenarios currently surrounding our situation before making this statement. The aim of this release is to inform you of:
1: What has happened at the club in recent weeks?
2: Reassure supporters of the club and junior section of the immediate future and survival of the club
3: To make clear what the reality for the club is now and for the future.

The club is under a huge amount of pressure at the moment both financially and emotionally, our players and supporters have been locked out of playing and watching football, and our revenue streams has taken a massive hit, and with the First team squad going so well, we may have had the benefit of play off income and more, we are unable to plan events, and cannot rely on any extra income they would have made, even our 500 club draw has been suspended as we are unable to collect the entry fees, and would be unable to pay the winners, all this has meant a loss of income which adds to many thousands of pounds  Some clubs will not survive this and we have seen many launching Just Giving Pages and looking for handouts.

Stocksbridge Park Steels will survive. And this is why :
SPS is a very well run football club, we have a reliable and hardworking group of volunteers who give so much time and effort to the club for free, as we feel we are a huge part of the Stocksbridge Community, giving the town something to be proud of and support

SPS have no debt or liabilities and are in a position to pay our current creditors including HMRC in respect of PAYE and VAT, unlike many other clubs SPS have only a few Contracted players, and as you would expect in such times of crisis, these have all forgone the wages owed to them.

SPS do not qualify for any Government assistance, and as yet the FA funding does not come down to our level

SPS 500 Club Lottery : prior to the lock down we had a great response from our wonderful supporters for which we are very grateful, and we are ready to continue with this as soon as we can, which if we have the support of the community, could give us much needed funds, 50% of monies collected goes to the Prize Money, so the more players, the bigger the prize.

SPS plan to launch a Just Giving page to raise funds for ground maintenance, equipment and other essential goods, such as seed and fertiliser, plus a new lawnmower and changing room refurbishment

SPS have a Vision and a Plan for the future which we will endeavour to deliver, although the time line for this may be extended

All of this means we are in very challenging times, a situation the club especially financially has ever had to face, and with our Landlords at Bracken Moor Sports Club we will need to encompass the challenge together and ensure our futures

SPS is the cornerstone of the community, its origins from the Steel works demands that we continue for the current generation, and for those to come to enjoy and interact in all we do, and to ensure we accept our responsibilities in maintaining and growing our fan base

This terrible pandemic is bringing out the best in communities, many of our players and volunteers are key workers, and we are keen to acknowledge everything they are committed to doing for the community

We are continuing with our Social Media updates and development and hope to have a club shop up and running ASAP, this will also inject some financial support.

As mentioned, unlike other leagues, there is as yet no financial assistance from the Northern Premier League for its clubs, and indeed the league itself has lost its main sponsor due to the crisis.

As we start to plan and think about next season, we must remind you SPS relies on its sponsors, advertisers, supporters and most of all volunteers who are the lifeblood of the club, to keep coming, keep helping, keep sponsoring and advertising, and now more than ever we want to hear from anyone who wants to get involved in any way to ensure the safety of this great football club
