Sad News of Swanwick Pentrich Road FC

Swanwick Pentrich Road FC

Club Statement

It is with great regret that after 56 years of local football at Highfield Road, there will be no more Swanwick Pentrich Road Football Club. This decision has not been taken lightly. Season by season it has been more difficult to sustain this loyal local club. We have always competed well in every competition entered but in recent years found it difficult to move ahead, and we just could not survive with just excellent hospitality. We would like to thank everyone who has been involved during these 56 years of Swanwick Pentrich Road FC. There has been a lot of time and hard work put in by so many, but none more recently than Chairman Lee Lawrence and General Manager David Pilgrim. We think of the football club as it is today, but it has held so many good memories from the past as well. So many excellent players have had great times playing at Swanwick along with many backroom staff as well.

It is so difficult to thank everyone individually but you certainly know who you are being at the heart of the club. So a massive thank you for your given time and commitment shown during these years. This football club would not have been so successful if it wasn't for you. It was such a shame that we couldn't end our final league season and of course not being able to contest the Derbyshire Divisional Cup South final which we only found out about a few days ago. Playing this last game would have brought the curtain down perfectly but due to current circumstances this was not to be.

From all at Swanwick Pentrich Road Football Club it has been a pleasure to host you and some amazing friends have been made over the years.

Good luck to everyone in the future
